bit of a horrible post but im going mad

Last week a good friend of mine found her horse dead in the field he was 27 and was only lightly hacked he was happy healthy and looked just like a 10year old
she said he went out that morning happy as anything and just 4hours later she found him in the field tests were done and they said it was of natural causes.

about 3nights ago i had a horrible dream the same thing happend to me and i found my beautiful gelding jack dead in his field.i woke up sweating struggling to breath.
Since them iv become obsessed over him when i put him out i spend the day worrying about him.the worst was today i went up to the field to find him flat out iv never ran so fast in my life my heart felt like it was about to burst out of my chest i got to him and he jumped up happy and larry and wandered off
i know this sounds so stupid but like right now im worried about him.
hes a 25year old trotter X i rescued him from auctions 4years ago and hes a absolute gent
i dont know another horse as unique everyone who meets him loves him and hes so good with children,a lady used to bring her grandaughter who was in a wheelchair to see him and he would happily stand there and be brushed.
hes very healthy apart from being blind in one eye and having recrent uvitus and artritus

It would be easy to say things like "death comes to us all" and "it's a part of life" but i think it's a sign of how much you love him and need him but...realistically It will happen, one day, but not today so make the most of each day you have together and stop worrying about "what ifs" and "wonder whens" otherwise you'll miss the now.
Go and make some memories now so you have something to look back on.

Is it possible to get webcams in your field and have them linked to your computer?

This sounds very weird but you kind of have this feeling when something is wrong. When I lost my boy last saturday I don't normally check him in the morning unless he's in or I'm riding but for some reason I wanted to check him, and its a good job I did or he would have died painfully if I didn't see him and get him to the equine hospital. I wouldn't worry if I was you.

I'm a bit obsesive of this condition since my boy had it but has your friends horse been tested for Atypical Myglobinuria? It can cause horses just to be found dead in the field and it is worth getting the blood from your friends horse tested for this as if theres another horse in the same field they may be at risk.

There is a programme on 4OD about this if you're interested called 'Dangerous Dreams'. Possibly don't watch it though if you think it might worry you more. x

Thats really sad news about your friends horse. Its only natural to worry about losing the horse you love so much especially after something like that happens. My friend recently lost her 10 year old horse and it makes you realise how attached you are to your own. My advice would be to enjoy everyday with your horse as there is going to come a day when we all have to say goodbye, and you dont want to spend our time worrying about them when we should be enjoying them! ;-)
