Those that have read any of my posts will know I have been debating whether to sell my mare or not after breaking my leg quite badly before Xmas. Sadly I have decided that due to lack of confidence and fear of getting back in the saddle that selling is the best option - she is too good to waste. I have advertised in H and H a couple of times and only had one viewing, so reckon she is priced too high. What do you think she is worth?
16.2, ISH (Clover Hill lines) 5yrs, big athletic jump, good flatwork, No vices and a dream to handle?
All comments welcome!
Hope picture will come up.

She looks nice, I wouldnt use that photo to advertise her as she looks long and on her forehand but I think thats just the angle. Try on horsequest/horsemart at 4.5k, I'd have thought that was about her money, unless she's done any competing?

I paid £4000 for my horse who was identical in how much work and experience he had and same age. I thought that was pretty expensive and knocked off £1k from asking price.

i think you could get bout £5-6500 for her as long as clean vetting, if you mean 3'9" course, 1 jump is easier! thats what i would pay reasonably anyway. you would probs find someone who would pay more!

She looks lovely although in the photo she looks on her forehand ,but the photo may be giving that impression, rather short in the neck and not engaged.
I'm sorry you haven't found a new owner for her but I'm sure you will I'd say around £4500 if she has not competed .See if you can advertise in your local pony club and riding club newsletters and go to some competition centres to advertise.
Solihull have dressage and jumping national champs over the next two weeks and have a good notice board ,either phone for a price tomorrow and post the ad. to them or take one over [it is very cheap]

Gosh she is lovely...if I had to funds and the space I'de snap her up.

Price wise, considering she hasn't really been out and done anything, lacking a track record I'de say around £4500, but possible less depending on what area your based in.

Best of luck selling her and hope you find her a fantastic home!

Shes a nice sort athlough she isn't using her self brillantly but the rider might not be having the best effect. I would put being on forehand and lack of back end to riders hands slightly pinning her head down....I would ask for £4.5k and accept £4k. The wording will play a big part so we could help you on that, Some people post pictures of thier horse and ask us to pick the bestest photo, Might help as we can see it from a buyers prospective.

Hi, she looks a lovely sort. As for the pictures - I don't like the ridden ones because the rider looks scared(?), unsure(?). She also seems to be riding the mare from front to back which would mean some re-training of the horse will be needed.
If you can put a more experienced rider on her to show her off nicely I would do that and take a picture during flatwork and jumping. If not I would take a picture of her against a white wall (the one you posted has a busy background which works a bit negatively) and some loose jumping pictures would be good if that is her forte.
As for the price - if I were you I would get her out and about (arrange for a young rider/keen competitor to take her out if you don't feel confident) and, providing she did well, ask in a range of £5k.
If she is to be sold right now and as she is I would think no more than £4k.
All the best with finding her a lovely home

P.S. Is she available for a loan by any chance ?

Take some of her with a white saddle cloth rather than a numnah and white boots- always catches the eye. Also the saddle cloth, providing its big enough, will make her looks less long in the back. She is a super horse though.

She is a really lovely looking sort of mare and I think she would go far in the right hands but after all you did say that.I think the third pic is the best even though she is not soft to the contact, she looks a little thick at the top of her neck so may find it abit difficult to flex but as I say a lovely looking sort and a pro. would be asking a lot for her with a bit of work

I wonder - do some of you think that some horses are priced to low and therfore attract 'wrong' clintele??
Now, this is a true story, some time ago a friend of mine had a mare (good bloodlines, nice, all rounder type) whom she didn't want to keep. She put an advert in a reputable magazine, priced her in a range of £4k and had three people viewing, none came back to buy.
After 6 months of no luck she re-advertised (payed for a good rider to ride on a day for pictures hence my earlier suggestions) and priced at about £10k and sold the same week.
It wasn't in the UK but do you think this might be the case with some horses??

Fact is there are a HELL of a lot of people vastly overpricing their horses, thus driving up other people's views of what their own horse is worth.

I could go through the "Allrounder" page on Horsequest and give you my views on what the horses are actually worth, which will vary from what is on screen I can tell you - and people have to remember that the price advertised is NOT necessarily the price that the horse was sold for!!!
