Edited to say... Rather odd title but, no one needs feel obligated to reply, this is just a quick update, although if you want to reply that's fine too x

Ok, well I said I'd probably not be on here this evening but its been fairly quiet this end!

As some of you may have read on the 'other' thread, Ben behaved exceptionally well last night after a slight change in routine (and again tonight) shocked the bejesus out of me but very welcomed after six weeks of psycho dragon ;)

When I got to the yard last night yo impressed upon me that tonight she wanted to be loaded up so we could leave at 7.30 tomorrow morning. So I spent all night writing a list as long as my body:rolleyes: packing, ironing, scrubbing and cleaning, worked today and then went up to yard to ride and load up armed with my list and a pen to tick things off as they went on the lorry:o

When I got to the yard YO was in a right state, when she had gone to fuel up they realised the indicators were kaput! She was so heart broken as she has only had this lorry for three weeks. She felt awful about the possibility that she couldn't take me, was so stressed. Anyway, contrary to the run up to rc a very wierd calm has settled over me, I was saying 'chillax its fine, what will be will be' (so not me) she said that whatever happened at the very least they could get me there on the Thursday morning in the lorry that doesn't have living accomodation, I told her that if they couldn't fix the indicators we would reasses tomorrow as the decision to go up tomorrow was purely for the best interests of settling Ben and I didn't want to do anything to unduly stress him, if needs be we would cancel.

Anyways, less than an hr later the engineer had come and fixed the problem, an hour later I came back off another fantastic calm and focused ride with Ben, everything was all packed up and I was home with NOTHNG to do all evening at 5.45!

So, we set off at 7.30 tomorrow mornings with some gin and tonic for tomorrow evening, a lorry with working indicators and a Benjamin bunny. It is simply for experience, and am thoroughly looking forward to it.

It was very wierd this evening as my mum is in for a hip replacement on Thursday, I know she is freaking out! She is an ex nurse and actually assisted in some of the very first hip replacement ops... It was a very strange hug we had today before I went to bed.

I promise to update either on Friday or probably over the weekend as I want to spend time with my mum on Friday.

Thank you all, if we get in, we get in, if we don't, we don't. I'm very much in a what will be will be mode now. I really feel for my mum because she is having both hips replaced so she has this one done then the next could be as soon as two weeks later, then its her back that needs looking at. In the long term it is going to improve her quality of life incredibly, but I wish she didn't have to go through all this :(

There will be a barrage of pics I promise :)

Of your mum's op? :eek::eek: ;)

I hope you and Ben have a great time. :D As for your mum, my friend had both hips done a few years ago. She needed lots of help in the first few weeks after, but since then hasn't looked back. The best thing she's ever done, it's changed her life. :)

Lol, well if if floats your boat fi I can ask the surgeons to take some pics, or maybe a YouTube video:rolleyes:

Mums problem is she has a bad back, when she stands up nerves and stuff get crushed by vertebrae. Since we only have MRI and scanners that will function when the patient is lying down its been hard to diagnose, therefore they would not operate. Her back problem is the root cause of the hip problems since she has been compensating for the pain for years, to be honest, she should have had them sorted a good few years ago, she has bone touching bone on both sides:(

Luckily we have some excellent consultant physio friends that live up country, they came on holiday here and finally talked her into doing this, so she can then go up and stay with them as a temporary resident get the correct type of scan (standing up) get her problem diagnosed because it will show up when she is standing up and then get her back operated on.

It has been hell for her, she has developed depression, is on serious meds for pain, I'm so happy she is having this done because I know that even if they feel her back is too unstable to operate on, this will relieve so much pain for her and I can't stand seeing her in pain.

Good luck QB to you, Ben and most importantly your Mum (puts all the jibber jabber that was posted on your last thread into perspective!!;))...

Look forward to hearing how it goes...:D

Trucks are very good at trying to stress us out - mine recently decided to have no lights in the gathering dusk - I drove home with people flashing their lights at me - on closer inspection the man that had fixed the reversing beep had 'borrowed' the fuse from the headlight slot - so that was quick to fix.

Good luck with Ben - I'm sure he will really be fine for his show - lots of pictures please.

I'm taking your braveness and hopefully attempting this in hand showing ourselves ;)

Well done for being so chilled out and I'm very pleased to hear about Ben chilling out too :)

I really hope your mums op goes as smoothly as possible!
xx

Woohoo!! So looking forward to it! Sheep are washed, looking peachy. OH and daughter are off this afternoon, I will go up early tomorrow for showing at 9. Look forward to seeing you up there :)

As a child and teenager I had a lovely piano teacher who was a virtual cripple. We just assumed a back injury and didn't ask. It turned out her hips had gone too and thanks to the intervention of the parent of one of her pupils, she was given one of the first double hip replacements in the county. Well she went from someone who would take several minutes to get from her chair to the front door (and in agony I'm sure) to someone who took to walking along the country lanes around her home for hours. It was nothing short of a miracle. Let's hope the OP's Mum's operation has just such results for her!
