I've heard the phrase 'Just a Cob' and seen it on here, never have I bought into the whole concept. No one says its 'Just a Thoroughbred' although I know some people view them with the same sort of opinion. Lunging MPB and seeing the pure power she has, re confirms the thought she's something a bit special. I however know there will be certain individuals that will label her 'just a cob' and I cannot wait to show them that being a cob is NOT a bad thing, every horse/pony/donkey/mule is also individual.

I love cobs.

P.s. some reason I have a feeling this is going to go along the lines of *that* thread by Shilasdair......

Me too :)

I often finish sentences with "for a cob" in relation to my lad. e.g., "Aye, he's not a bad jumper...for a cob"...
Doesn't bother me a jot to be honest.

I don't see why you would feel the need to prove your cob can do something just because people have the opinion of 'its just a cob'.. Who cares what the horse is, if it does what you need no one elses opinion matters a jot.

Nor do I.
I only do it because I heard it so much from the teenagers on my yard (now thankfully gone) that I thought I'd get it in first, and it just sort of stuck!
On the flip side, my poor YO has a fab, confidence giving TB, bred (very well) to event, but bone effing idle. The amount of times people have told her "he's lazy/ steady/ safe for a TB", so I think it works all ways :)

See, I've had the 'it's just an ex racer' comment a couple of times :p

Also had a delightful individual comment that Sims (the dun in my sig) is too chunky. (said in a degrading way) I have no idea why people are mean/dismissive about others' horses, I think you should chalk it up to jealousy - makes me feel better! :p

I love my MPB 'Miss Polo Bear' for any one wondering. I really think i've struck gold with her. There is a lovely big black cob on my yard, if she turns out to be half the horse he is, I will be mega chuffed!
