at the end of the day it came down to a single pole! one pole less we would have been 3rd, another pole less would have been gold, if not a timefault less would have been silver!
The first 7 teams were all very close finishing just over 2 poles apart. 2nd-7th were just over a pole apart, you can't get much closer than that!!
I still say well done to them as it was so close, but yes very disappointing to be so close yet so far. Good luck to Ben in the individual finals now
It was indeed very tight: if today's had been a stand-alone class we came equal 1st and would have been jumping-off for medals! Looks as if Sunday should also be very exciting.

I tried to make this point in a thread the other day. That the difference between a medal and nowhere is often tiny. Thats why attention to detail is vital, to hopefully make this difference.
TeddyT - would you say it was Geoff B's portly physique that let the team down?
You lot did amazingly well - I am gutted for Sweden (my nationality), and especially for RGB who was our big medals hope. I can't see Ben Maher not get a medal - that horse really doesn't touch a fence if it has any chance of avoiding it.
I'm not sure whether you are being provocative or are just blinkered. The reason Ben has the best chance of a medal is that he has the best horse, as pointed out by our chef d'equipe .
little_flea - I was really sorry to see RGB drop down the order too. Ninja hasn't had the ideal preparation which might be at least partly the reason.
I was going to be sarcastic and say "chance of medal alongside slimline spring chicken Albert Zoer" - then I realised I don't know how old AZ is and looked it up - he is 33... oops.
Actually he's now 34, but he looks a lot older than that. He has improved greatly - when he first competed in Britain he was not at all good. His older sister was so much more stylish and looked a natural which he certainly did not.
Yeah, he really does look older (no offense), I was quite surprised. He is certainly a v v good rider now, and Oki Doki is amazing, I hope they do really well on Sunday.
Lets keep our fingers crossed for Ben - & hope Robin Hood doesnt get sold on like Bens' mare did if he does well (tho i dont know the ins & outs of who he belongs to!!)
sjfan- not being either! Just making a cheeky comment to push my point! I am the most open minded person i know. Although there are an awful lot of blinkered people in the horse world so i can see why you may assume that!
Robin Hood W is co-owned by Ben and Emma & Mike Phillips of Quainton Stud. There is less chance of him being sold than there was Rolette who belonged to someone quite different.
I thought a fab competition - nice and exciting til the end. Think iot was a brilliant, testing course. I am even happier that it is actually being shown on TV - shocker!!!
Looking forward to tomorrows action.
I think all our team did fab and I I think that's what I love about showjumping is that you just never know.
I still love that horse Opium though such a character!
We did well both individual and as a team. especially considering rosinus was only jumping 1.20s this time last year, corlato has only been competing a few times this year due to embroyo transfer, and robin hood hasnt been competing at this levek very long
