My 9 month old colt has no visible testicles. Obviously they are somewhere up inside him, but I was wondering at what age I should worry about this? I haven't spoken to my vet yet as he is such a lovely little colt, we have no issues with him still having them - infact you'd think he didn't.

I don't plan to keep him entire and was hoping to have him gelded this year. Is it likely they could still appear? Or am I going to have to go down the expensive and risky route of having them found and removed surgically?

Had our colt castrated 2 weeks ago (10 months) The week before they weren't at all visible and could hardly be felt (I could only feel one), the vets had a feel and said they were very small, but could feel two and we could go ahead if we wanted to, which we did. Apparently they said they were the size of peas.

They done him in the stable, but laying down instead of standing. Everything went ok and they were more the size of olives than peas. I watched the whole thing, don't know why!!!! My eyes were watering lol.

Quite often when they are castrating, when they put the local in, the balls will drop. As much as they 'aren't there' they probably are, you just can't see or feel them (sorry don't know your experience) trained hands will be able to tell you. When you are ready for it to be done, I'd get the vet to give 'em a feel to check. Friends of ours said their entires weren't visible until they were 2, so I wouldn't worry yet, just slow developers.

I got a slight concern about our castration, that I'm about to post up for peoples thoughts.
