No way way I'd have a my 6 year old on this!

I saw this earlier and actually followed the link to the youtube video. The person videoing explains the pony was a lead rein only pony, she had sent it for schooling but it has moments of naughtiness but is 99% of the time good. When it was out grown pony went to a nice lead rein home and then was taught to drive.

Ah yes, this has been discussed on here before.

There was a huge argument about it, I agree with you, I value my son's neck, sod him being 'a great rider', he has time to develop his skills over the years, not for me to crow over to others about the fact that 'he will be at the next Olympics'....

I wouldnt put my child on that pony either, but it made me laugh! Little swine of a pony. Little kid looked to be happy enough though!

What is the vid the op is meaning, I can't see it on FB. Thanks.

theres other vids on youtube of this wee guy being a good pony, i have to say i love ed, hes a cheeky wee s**** but so funny! the wee boy isnt at all phased, i wish more kids had his guts!

I was having a bit of a giggle...until the bit where the little boy starts getting dragged along by his foot  that wasn't funny!

Have to say by the end of the vid that pony is pretty dam efficient at getting the kid off his back!

Not what I'd be doing with my child though!

My youngest.who is 7 loves watching this.It is her favourite thing ever and as she has had a succession of naughty ponies that have had her on the floor,it has helped her to see that it happens to other people as well. The other week, her normally good pony spooked and shot around the school and she eventually fell off.She got back on.but told me afterwards that 'it was like watching that film of Ross and Ed,and thought it was funny rather than scarey.

The little lad is a lot older now,and still riding,so he wasn't put off.:)

The one called ed been very naughty

Yeah I see it now thanks.

No I would not put my kid on that. Bizarre really as his uncle and namesake died young so you'd think they would be totally paranoid. That pony could have broken his neck several times in those three minutes, so I don't care how good it is the rest of the time, it wouldn't be me. Even worse when it rolled there was no one close enough to do anything, too busy videoing, I don't think its normal to keep videoing in that situation, I would have been in there making sure that pony realised the error of its ways, put it that way! Kids of course don't realise the dangers, that's what adults are for.

Is it bad i grew up on a pony like this :D Little shitland who loved nothing more than dropping his shoulder round corners and putting a random bucks in here and there :o Must say even now my seat isn't fantastic... did learn how to fall like a stunt rider though... i practiced enough

Dont you think its funny that if a horse was doing this that we would all be saying, teeth, back saddle, pain etc...... Yes he is cheeky but horses dont do things without a reason even if its just through being too fresh

You take the rough with the smooth, and sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesn't.

My sister's second pony, when she was 6/7, was a adorable little welshie. He was 11.2hh and he knew every trick in the book and then some more, and relished having a skinny little girl on board after having to actually behave for the much older and taller boy. He used to piss off all the time bucking, he'd bronc and spin, he'd rear and his favourite trick was to start taking off over a fence and then drop his shoulder and land facing back where he came from... When Al started being able to stick this, he would land and buck until she pinged off.

She also fell off twice in one dressage test on him, which is an achievement I think...

Kids are pretty resilient, especially when there's not much choice on offer. She's now 18 and trying to make a career of eventing. Everyone remembers that naughty little pony and he is a very fond memory!

Considering my son burst into tears the moment the pony he was riding in his first lesson started to walk I probably wouldn't....;)

Little ponies are a bit different I think, they're cleverer and know that their tiny jockeys have no hope!

It would be right up my daughters street. When she was 6, her pony was 4, & although it wasn't as deliberate as that pony appears, at 4 & fizzy the pony certainly had her moments doing similar, combined with trying to charge off. All of which daughter found great fun. We've had to have conversations about it being a good thing that apart from being whizzy, her pony not misbehaving nowadays is a good thing. I'm not sure I'd want her on one similar if she came off quite that often, but in fairness its hard to say from that vid how regularly the child does fall, without knowing over what time scale it was filmed. I think it very much depends on the childs personality too, same as adults, some enjoy that type, some don't.

He should have had 666 not E clipped on his bum!

That's the sort of pony my parents would have bought me 'because it was cheap' and I would have 'had to be grateful!' Lol! In fact, my new forest wasn't much different!

The kid is loving it. Very old video though - he's moving onto bigger ponies and certainly doesn't seem to have been phased by it!

I know what I would have done with that little **** of a pony and that would have been to get on him and see if he can buck with the (lot) extra weight on his back! I would have worked hi until he was sweating and breathing really hard and then but the gutsy kid back on top.
Pony would then behave because A) it would be to exhausted to do anything else and B) know what its punishment would be if it didn't!

I have had many ponies like this come for training and they are just to sharp for their own good. They need to learn that taking advantage of a small child is not worth having to carry a heavier tougher person for twice as long.

What an ace little pony and what a game little kid!

Like hell nobody ever knew that ONE pony who used to have all the kids on the floor... I knew him - and I bought him! My sister spent more time on the floor than riding!

People need to lighten up - We've all been there and survived!

I'd rather risk my kids getting bronced off than being stuck inside playing computer all day!

Ah yes, Ed being very naughty! It's had a LOT of views.

I feel as angry now as I did the first time I saw it.

What kind of parent would put a child on a pony that bolts, naps, bucks, bronks, spins, tramples and drags the child? How can you stand there videoing that? The child was aggrovating the pony with the whip and that annoyed me too

I'm not saying that I agree with the child being on this pony (as I'm not 100% sure of my views right now) - but all ponies have the potential to do ALL of the above. All ponies have the potential to kill a child. All animals (including pet dogs etc.) have the potential to kill or hurt.
This lad clearly has never been very hurt or he wouldn't be loving it so much. Yes he has the POTENTIAL to get hurt - but we all do, every second of the day.

Just thought I'd be the devil's advocate!

Also regarding the whip - he is 6. I thought he was a fantastic rider!!!!

It was the number of times the kid was ditched into an arena fence and the rolling which particularly worried me. I certainly didn't enjoy seeing that video and I am all for game kids and cheeky ponies.

The riding school I learned at had a whole yard full of naughty little white ponies. Some worse than others and to be allowed ride the real bad ass pony's was a badge of honor.
Surely everyone over the age of thirty can remember the days of dodgy hats, old school instructors, naughty ponies and kids that could actually ride?
Good luck to Ed and his jockey.

Towards the end I was wincing and gasping. I was convinced the pony was going to trample the little boy!
Wouldn't let my kids get on a pony like that.

I'm interested to know how it possibly is the pony's 'fault' that the child got dragged? Did the pony glue the child's foot into the stirrup?

That aside, I hope my mother doesn't read this comment or it will make her feel like a very bad mum, which I can assure you she wasn't.

I think there's a complete over reaction to this video. These are just snippets of the pony's behaviour for a start. The child does not appear frightened, hurt, or like he doesn't want to be on the pony's back.

The only part of this that I would berate is the bit where the pony lies down to roll. My old pony used to do this when I was a kid, but for a mother to stand by and carry on filming at that point is a bit much.

I've not read any other posts on this, but I have seen this video before.

Shocking that the lad is allowed to continue. But all I can thing is - GIVE ME AN HOUR WITH THAT PONY !!!!

First, I would get an expert to check that saddle, and someone to check his back and teeth. If ok, despite being way to big for him, boy would the b***** learn some manners and PDQ . That pony is just crying out for a good rider to show him the light. Would be sooooooooooo rewarding !

All that pony is fit for atm is Tesco.
