I've had an ad up on preloved for a couple of weeks to try and find a sharer for my girl and only had one response from a teenager who couldn't ride but wanted to try and teach herself on my horse!

I'm looking for someone to ride during the week while I'm at work. Not looking for any money just poo picking / haying and someone around during the daylight. Horse is a fun hack, good on the roads and schools nicely but nothing. I have mentioned that due to a medical condition (navicular) she can't be jumped but shes sound as anything schooling and hacking.

Where am I going wrong? I thought there would be loads of people looking for a free share in this current climate but nothing. Is there anywhere else I should be advertising? Any suggestions welcome!

Probably because of the season! I hate having a horse sometimes in the winter lol :p

Probably best to try word of mouth? or as juliette said try local tack/feed shops

Yeah winter is a nightmare sometimes - particularly for me as I don't get to the yard until 8pm after work, hence looking for a sharer! I know its not the best time to be looking but she has been off work / being brought back into work spring / summer with the navicular and I wanted to make sure she is 100% sound and working well before looking for a sharer.

I'll put an add up in the local tack shop, thats a good idea. Because I live in London and commute out to the horse I don't think about local shops.

Where are you!? I have a pony but lost my tb a year ago!! Looking for a share around Lincoln that I can help oout with.

Pony is my daughters but do not feel ready to own one of my own again , just yet :)

Just remember that on Preloved, you have to pay to answer an advert (ie be a registered user). Definitely advertise locally at feed merchants, tack shops. I'm sure some websites are free - Your Horse? I think

This is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for...whhhyyy can't you move to Hertfordshire?! :p I honestly thought more people would be looking for a sharer in winter. I'm not just a fair weather rider!

I guess it is because it rules out those that are at school and those with jobs, so you're possibilities are limited...

You might be right with this. Although school / uni students are usually done by 3.30 / 4 pm so hardly late! Even someone working locally could be at the yard by half five when its a lot lighter than when I get down! The school is floodlit as is the yard, its only because horse lives out and I'd like them to poo pick and doing it by headtorch isn't fun...

Maybe I should take that line out and just say I want someone to poo pick and if its dark for a couple of months when they're down they'll have to do it in the dark. Probably other people aren't as creeped out by being alone in a black field at night as me! YOs live on sight so its quite safe in the evenings - just very dark and quiet.
