Inspired by the hot horse shower thread currently running I am curious to know if anyone has any experience with the portable showers that you fill with water that is already hot please?
Even though I bought it with horse washing in mind, I've never actually used it for them, but for washing cars and trailers when you haven't got an outside tap nearby it's brilliant.
Mine has a lead to plug into the cigarette lighter, and it will also run on a rechargeable drill battery.
Thank you, can I ask if the water comes out at a decent rate? I have visions of the water coming out as a dismal trickle. Would you use it to wash a horse?
It's surprisingly powerful for something so little. The nozzle is adjustable for different spray patterns and on the jet setting it gets most of the mud out from under the 4x4's wheelarches.
It's also fairly quiet so I imagine most horses would accept the noise if introduced sympathetically. It has a fan/mist setting that would be good on horses.
I have had both, the Nomad is by far the better buy. The Mobi kept getting faults and whilst initially the company would replace parts it now seems they have sold out to a cycling company and I've had no luck with getting the latest problem fixed.
The Nomad is much more robust & you can remove the battery to charge it rather than with the Mobi where I had to bring the whole base home which was a pain.
I use mine for washing off legs & feet but I wouldn't attempt to wash and rinse a horse - with either. Not only would you be constantly filling it up but imo it's just not man enough for the job. Whilst the Nomad gives a decent spray it wouldn't be enough to rinse with and would take forever.
My husband washes his push bike off with it when he's out in the van but he wouldn't attempt to thoroughly clean the bike as it just doesn't hold enough so if it won't do a bike with success you can imagine it wouldn't do a great job on a horse!
There may be people out there who manage it bit I personally wouldn't attempt it as it would take forever to rinse thoroughly.
There must be different sizes or something, sonjafoers, because my Nomad will rinse the shampoo off a stonking great big 4x4 with just one filling. A friend of mine runs a mobile car valeting business and uses a Nomad like mine for when there isn't a tap on site, so it gets a lot of use and hasn't let him down yet.
