Up until now I have only bought well known brands. I have just bought a well priced rug on ebay but haven't heard of the make before. Would this put you of? Would you rather pay £40 extra and get a better make rug?

The make I have bought is EQUIPE. It's a 400g full neck turnout. For £55 including postage I don't think it was a bad buy because I'm confident I could sell it for that locally if I didn't like it.

Just after peoples thoughts on the make? or on any other cheaper make rugs?

I dont buy "well known brands becuase they are well know" but becuase i know they will fit my horse and they will last. I buy rambos, fal, bucas and a few amigos. I also have a mark tood rug too. I bought them because they fit, i like the way they are made, the materials used and its what i pay for.

i dont buy expensive branded rugs because my horse just trashes them! I recently bought a none brand rug which fits him better than any rug i've ever bought, and it completely water proof! I really don't know what brand my rug is, as it doesnt have a label on it anywhere, either way, its a great rug IMO!

I don't buy brand names just because they are brand names. I tend to have shires and weatherbeeta rugs as I like the fit. But I was a after a heavy weight turnout that I might not use much so thought I would try this one as it's cheap!

I just stick to Shires as they always fit my horses and are very reasonably priced. The only time I have bought a 'cheaper non brand' rug it was meant to be breathable but my horses sweated up in it sooo badly I dumped it.

Just bought a non-brand m/w out of desperation as was the only one tackshop had in 6"6. Usually I stick to branded as I know how they'll fit, wear etc - however have to say new rug is one of the best I've ever had - superb fit, excellent quality and £45!!
Very pleased with it - it's a Harlequin, anyone else heard of them?

I have a Harlequin H/W full neck stable rug on my pony, it is very cosy, and even though YO has an alarming habit of thinking 'Oooh its a nice day, I will put the horses out' and he is often put out in it, it has never ripped, even though he plays and rolls, and the mud just brushes off it.

Equipe rugs are nice. A girl on the yard uses them alot on her boys, and she buys wrong sizes, and they still survive, and ponies always seem warm/comfortable. That's with youngsters aswell. Generally look nice rugs.

I bought a loveson middleweight (I have heard of loveson but thought they just made joddy boots!

) Its ok, but isn't really deep enough for springy's belly and she managed to rip off the back leg straps in the first 2 days of wearing it. It's fine as a spare and was only £30, but to be honest I think I will go with tried and tested brands in the future.

I've got a loveson fleece cooler which only cost about 20quid... It is lovely. it is one of the only coolers I've seen with leg straps so you can use it to layer under a T/O rug. I would love another one because this one is too big for my current horse.

I bought an unbranded stable rug off ebay recently and I really like it. It was a total bargain... the only issue I had with it was that the size came up on the small side. I guess if it were branded I would have known that and could have bought a size up.

Although I would love to have all my rugs made by Masta or Thermatex I don't think I'm ever going to be able to afford it and at the end of the day my ponio doesn't care if she is wearing the 'latest brand names' or not

I bought an olympian brand new stable rug from an ebay shop for about 12 quid, and it's great! The quality is fine for what I need and it actually fits little man, when the 'branded' rugs don't!

Loveson does AWESOME people riding clothes, but their horse-wear isn't so good xD

I have a gorgeous lovesome fleece, and every time I get chaps I get loveson's synthetic ones xD

If they're a total bargain I'll buy off ebay but prefer to buy non branded stuff from shops because at least you can look and feel the quality (or not!) Most of the non-brand stuff I've bought off ebay has been crap, so tend not to buy unless I recognise the make
