Non breathable stable rugs

I have a stable rug which does not appear to be breathable as it is always damp on the inside when I take it off, if I poked a few small holes in the outer cover do you think that would aloow the damp to disperse or is that just stupid?

Is your rug wet due to horse sweat? Or damp in the air going into your rug?

moisture from the horse not being dispersed by the rug

Maybe u should check you horse isnt too hot. personally making holes in it i would think that would help, ruin it quicker!

What rugs is he wearing?

It is only 300 grms and he doesn't have the same problem in his 450grm rug

I would get rid and get one that works. Condensation inside a non brathable rug =wet, cold, clamy, unhappy horse!
