Does anyone else have a fear of flying and if so how do you deal with it?
I am having to fly in 2 weeks and I am very scared.

hey.

my mum has a fear of flying, and last year i wanted her to fly to ireland with me so she went to the doctors and got some tablets (diazzapan sp?. i *think*) and i wont say she enjoyed the flight but the tablets def helped her!!!

I have a fear of flying, unfortunaly it seems to be getting worse each time I do fly

I am planning on going to the doctors to see if there is anything which can help, I am going on holiday in a few months. Try those Kalms to see if they work.

I was absolutely terrified of flying, in fact flew for my honeymoon and then wouldn't fly again for 10yrs, I then had to for work, so before that flight I did a short flight, London - Aberdeen for the weekend with the help of some valium from my GP, rescue remedy and an understanding hubbie. I now make sure I do at least 1 flight a year (even if only an hour) to stop my fears multiplying! I still don't like it but I can now manage it without valium!

Have you flown before? If not, it'll be nerves of the unknown.

You could get tablets I guess if you genuinelly think you wont be able to handle it. But I think if you're just a bit worried then try to work through it with an understanding friend / boyfriend etc.! Or else you may never get over it if you're always drugged up!

Having got 2 commercial pilots in my family - Trust me, its safer to fly than travel by car!

I have flown loads of times but each time I get more and more worried- I had diazapane last time but it didn't really work.

The tablets they give you aren't very stong and they certainly don't make you feel woozy, just kind of chilled out and it takes the edge off the panic. Once you go through security buy something you will really enjoy eating/drinking (not alcohol!) and a fav mag!

The thing that really helped me was a flight up to Aberdeen and I was really poorly and thought I was going to throw up everywhere and I was really worried I would make a fool of myself, well we landed without incident and I realised that I hadn't stressed about the flight or taken any pills!

I hate flying and have tried Diazepam, Oxazepam and Lorazepam - the latter was def. the best, I fell asleep. I have also tried mixing tyhem with whisky which I am told is naughty but it certainly helps!!
