ok i know people say, watch your horses poo and find out what is normal, well i used to poo pick every 2 - 3 days as he is in a large field on his own and used to get help doing it, now i dont get help i do it every day, or try to! well whilst doing it by myself, ive started counting and to my knowledge the average is 10 -12 a day give or take a FEW! well today i poo picked and there was 42!!! poos, (2 days worth) and yes they are all from my horse, he is in a seperate paddock, should i be worried? he doesnt show disscomfort nor does he act strangley the poo is not runny, there is a few that are like patt, but most are nuggets...( i would put this down to he is in a large field on his own??) should i keep counting for a few more weeks just to see if this is my horses average ??? it does seem alot!

Opinions as soon as please! Help my none stop pooping horse!!

I think someone on here worked out that a horse poo's every two hours, they are pure ***** machines, sometimes ours are obviously pure grass and soft but never unformed.
are you bored by any chance lol

Hahahah your comment made me laugh, no not bored i never used to count never thought it was a problem unless obviously they had the ****s lols. But the lady at where i keep him used to poo pick every other day for me and she said he poo's alot and her 2 horses dont poo as much as him put together lol! so i sat and thought about it and was like right ill count! surely a barrow and half is alot though!! my arms were killing, he may only be a baby but hes a heavy sturdy thing! and doesnt produce small!! lol i didnt think i had to worry about anything as he's quite happy with it, better he gets it all out of his system rather than bunging up and me having to get my rubber gloves on!!! hahaah!!

I have just put my horses onto a supplement for this reason, mine are out 24/7 and with all the lush grass they are eating (thanks to the weather) is causing acid build up in the tummy. I spoke to the vet when she came and in turn spoke to Naff feed advise line. I now give a little feed with Naff haylage balance supplement. This helps to brake down any excess acid in the gut that can cause excess wind and many poo's, its used alot for horses kept at grass in the summer months. Have a read up about Naff products. I rate it :-)

Ahhh right! yeah he is turned out 24/7 all year round, and has recently (a month ago) moved into a field that floods every other year so the grass the year after the flood is AMAZING! and he has a large field all to his self, (as hes a colt and i have 2 lady donkeys and dont fancy having a mule to train as well!!! lol) so i thought it would be because the grass is very rich and tbh, there ALOT of it, i do try to keep it cut so he isnt eating so much! NIGHTMARE! lol but yeah ill have a read up about NAFF!! thanks for that tip!

And he'll be on 24/7 box rest with catastrophic laminitis next. Horses aren't designed to eat that kind of grass. Get a muzzle on him or fence a small piece off with electric tape or get him off it!. Can you get the field grazed bare by sheep?

You have no idea how dangerous this scenario is! :( His digestive system is being overloaded. Has he put a lot of weight on?

You need to be VERY careful :(
