So just had the saddler out the other week and got a new saddle and in the last week it has started to slip backwards a bit too much but does seem like a good fit. It does not help that he has a really really big wither and shoulder. Does anybody use None slip pads? I looked at the Nuumed ones but they are a little pricey and seen some by Thorowgood but they only sell them upto a cob size. I am not keen on the Limpet (sp?) Neoprene type as he is a very sweaty horses and we do at times ride for hours and think they would cause chaffing and increased sweating. Any other suggestions very welcome.

Thanks

I used to use a gel pad with my cob, can't remember the name but they are almost see through in colour and have holes in. Didn't make her sweat much more than normal beleive or rub/move. I also used a breastplate, just had a cheap amigo one as they fit big shoulderss well as good adjustion!

Mmmm, some good suggestions from previous posts, BUT as this is a new saddle which has only just been fitted, I wonder whether you should ask the saddler to come back and have another look?

Of course, the saddle will need to settle into the horse's back, and he does sound to have a problematic shape, but I'd still be inclined to get the saddler back for another look TBH.
