My dog is a whippet X, 9 years and spayed.
She is always very well behaved, and I have had barely any issues for any concern.
Over the weekend, we went to visit some family, and their 16 month springer spaniel bitch. Both dogs get on well, and although the springer always wants to play, and mine doesn't, she tolerates her with avoidance!! The springer was spayed 2 -3 weeks ago, and that went well.
However, when springer was minding her own business, mine kept going to her and trying to mount... which in turn instigated springer to play, and mine to go 'I'm too old and mature for this'!... then vicious cycle...
So, why was mine trying to mount her? I've seen another non spayed bitch trying to mount the springer, but I put that down to hormones, which mine 'doesn't have'?!?

Any explanations??

I'm no expert but I think it is dominance. My lab mounts her St Bernard toy if she thinks we are going to play with it.
