Normal tie or stock tie for BE?

Just wondered which was more popular, or if a normal shirt and tie are even allowed at BE events.
I wear my shirt and tie for PC eventing, but stock ties do look a bit nicer IMO.
Are there any rules in BE on this?

i always wear a stock, i cant stand ties, they drive me mad!! not sure about rules would have to consault the rule book! ......

But did see a few professionals wearing shirts and ties for lower levels last year

Either is acceptable.

Shirt and tie look better if you have a particularly short neck, otherwise I think a stock is smarter.

I think tweed looks better with shirt and tie - as if you were going Cubbing. Lots of the rpos wear shirt and tie at a lower level.

Black jackets look smarter with a white stock, and navy with a cream...
