Hopefully someone can help me.
My mare has a horrid infection with no obvious wound on her hind leg.
Vet came yesterday as not weight bearing, gave IV antibiotic and anti inflammatory. Prescribed Norodine and Bute.
She is more comfortable but the swelling is not yet going down, and temperature down from 104.7 to 100.7 today.
How long would it be before you started to notice a difference?
Not sure whether or not a higher dose or alternative is needed.

The drop in temp would indicate she is going the right way, I would think by morning she will have a normal temp. Assume the norodyne started this evening ?

I would think that by tomorrow both the bute and Norodine will have had chance to work through her system so you should start seeing more of an improvement.

Norodine started last night after IV jabs yesterday am.
Fingers crossed, starting to panic a bit.
Cold hosing, gel packs and ice gel will all carry on tomorrow and the grazing in hand which is getting a little bit exciting now to say the least!

My vet prescribed norodine for a persistent wither abscess and folliculitus. I noticed a difference after a few days, but it took 10 days of 2 sachets a day to completely clear it up.

Norodine did nada for Fabs cellulitis, he was put on it after 5 days of penicillin and flared straight back up. If its not cleared it within a few days I'd ask for an alternative.

I've just been through something very similar with The Moose. If you don't see an improvement in a few days, get the vet to draw off some fluid to culture and they can tailor the antibiotic to the bacteria present.
