In my eternal quest for "places to ride near Manchester City Centre", I've run across this place a few times, but I can't find any info on it. Has anyone been there? Do they even have a trainer/riding school? Unfortunately, don't have a horse of my own right now, but am looking to loan and would love to be somewhere that's sort of competition/training oriented. I'm a decent rider and just want to keep improving...
Thanks!
(any other suggestions for North Cheshire/Manchester area would be much appreciated, I currently drive out to Comberbach, so I'm willing to put in some time to get to a good place!)

Its a long while since I was in the area, but North Cheshire was the smaller of two riding schools in the area owned by members of the same family.

I used to ride at Carrington Riding Centre, the other one, and it was a good riding school. It didn't used to be a competition venue though. North Cheshire held a bit of unaffiliated stuff.

Ashton Old Hall farm used to be fairly into their Showjumping IIRC. As did some at Manchester EC, but I don't know who is running them now.

How about the Marple (Stockport) area? I believe there is at least one good school out there, but I don't know if it is competitition type. North Cheshire, well go and see I suppose, and Ashton Hall - bargepole!

Fatpiggy, do you know the name of the school in Marple? I'm not as bothered about competition, necessarily, but I would like somewhere where I felt challenged...
thanks!

I live near Marple and I can think of 2.

Glen Jakes - OK if your 5 years old!!

Hargate Hill EC in Glossop. They do have some comps and as I remember have some nice horses. They do private lessons where I think you can learn alot more as you get instructors full attention. Downside is that whilst the instructors are friendly I always got an odd vibe from there but maybe that's just me!
