Not horsey but I'm hoping someone can help me decide on next year's holiday destination. Assuming I'm only going to be able to drag hubby so far from home just the once, where would you recommend for a week's holiday to make the most of the area? Looking on a map, Bude looks a good bet but what is the area like? Are there places you'd recommend or indeed, any to avoid? We like the countryside, good eating pubs, pretty villages/beaches, peace and quiet but with a few conveniences.

Come to North Devon, beautiful beaches - Putsborough, Saunton Sands and Croyde Bay. Pretty villages and lovely drive to Exmoor for loads of cosy pubs and Dulvertons shops. Happy to give more info if you're interested. Also not sure if you're planning on bringing your horse but there lots of horsey B&Bs.
