We currently live in the busy Midlands and visit the North norfolk coast a lot as the in-laws have a caravan there. Since we've had our daughter I'm finding more and more that I do not want to bring her up in the busy busy Midlands.

OH and I have actually talked about this seriously this weekend. It would be in a relocation relocation way as he runs his business in the Midlands that couldn't be moved. I work for the nhs and could / would be prepared to change the area that I work in (although not the profession) or even try something different. He would be away Monday morning to Thursday night. We would consider moving on our own or with our in-laws and getting a bigger place maybe with an annex.

However I am aware there would be pitfalls to attempting to live the dream, so I'm looking for reports about what it's like to live in the area from a horsey and life perspective. Schools, livery yards, nice areas, areas so avoid etc.

Thanks.

North Norfolk is great for horses, but like every where else there are places that have fabulous off road riding and places that are quite land locked. For your daughter very active pony club and for adults everything you could want. If you want to complete nationally, then the road system in pants, but there are a local places about that do Affliated British Dressage/Showjumping/Eventing competitions. School wise, need to choose relatively carefully, there are great schools, but in general Norfolk falls a little bit below average. Employment opportunities aren't great for youngsters. The quality of life is fabulous, a beautiful coast and Norwich really has a good theatre, etc. We are lucky that there are pockets of wealth in North Norfolk so there are fab restaurants, etc, if that is you thing. Hunting is good.

Well worth more research. Try looking at Blackwater, Lime Kiln Farm, Squirrel Wood, for livery - though there tend to be lots of little yards rather than a few big yards. Go into Sandons Saddlery or GJL Animal Feeds and have a chat about anyone offering livery locally, or see if you can squeeze a few acres into your budget!

I cant help with what it is like living in Norfolk but it can be very difficult when your partner is away for such a long time so I would be a little cautious if this is the only way it can work...is there not somewhere better than where you are but closer so OH doesn't have to live away from you and daughter.. I know partners being away for part of the week can work but it also can cause a great deal of problems and couples sometimes grow apart.....its one of the reasons I am single!!!!!!!! I know this isn't what you asked but as it happened to me I thought it may be relevant....
