I’m looking at competing my 3yr old cob in the north west champs it’ll be his first competition and there’s 3 classes he’s looking at entering but I don’t know wether to show in him a show headcollar or a bridle I feel like the show headcollar would make more sense because he’s only doing in hand for 3yr olds, coloured youngsters and a cob class I also am not sure if he needs a green ribbon in his tail if that’s the right colour for a young, inexperienced pony competing some advice would be nice thanks

also he has the training and the looks because I’ve had him since he was 1 1/2 so he’s been preparing to show for a while now but I’m only just ready to get back in the ring after having to sell my amazing show mare a few years back now as I was only used to competing her and she was really quiet and stubborn whereas he is reactive and gets excited to bolt easily he’s also my first gelding I’ll show at a big show like this and the youngest I’ve ever shown but at home he is fine to work with and puts 200% into everything he does from lunging to being walked around by children he is a dream but I don’t know how he will react but I want to get him show affiliated before 2024 if possible

The picture is of him after doing show practice

i’d take him in his bridle for the first class just in case he’s very lively, and if you take the headcollar you can always put him in that later. personally i’d just leave him in the bridle anyway, but that’s my preference.

green is the correct colour to show that he’s inexperienced and would benefit from being given a bit of space.

next step is getting all those white patches clean!! if he’s the same on the other side i wish you luck🤣🤣 enjoy!!
