I am hoping you can help me.

I have a 6 year old 13hh mare who I require backing and riding away. Previously, he has done all of the ground work, been lent over and led around etc however lack of a rider has prevented her from progressing. She had a foal last year, she had been started before the foal and has also been restarted since.

My 1st option would be to have someone come to my yard to take her further, as I don’t really want her going away for a few weeks, but that is my second option depending upon who I can find and cost involved.

I’d be grateful if anyone can either suggest some yards or instructors etc that could undertake this task!

I am based on the Fylde coast so somewhere local would be fab, it not, i dont mind travelling her a little to go to the right yard.

Thanks in advance!

I know somebody up at Mellor (not far from Osbaldeston) who takes horses/ponies for breaking, she broke my pony, well, I bought the pony from her.

She is a petite lightweight adult, so wouldn't be too big for a 13hh.

I do know a couple of others but I would say they were quite "hard" with the breakers they have, so might not be what you'd like.

He has a daughter who is small and light who works with her mum who he may use if he is too big. Best thing would be to ring and ask. He is really nice but he doesn't really say much so make sure you ask/tell him what you what you want about the horse. Sorry that doesn't make much sense but you will see what I mean if you talk to him lol

hi we are by Barton in Lancs my friend may be able to do it for you , she is very lightweight , really good rider, used to breaking and schooling, she also has wagon so could ride the pony away at shows ect.

She has very good results affiliated dressage and won a big class at the wekend pm me if you want her number

i have also sent horses to john leigh and would highly recommend him he is very good , he will prob get his daughter to ride him or last time i saw him he had a teenager working for him to break in ponys .
