This is not a random thing I have a genuine intrest in the area, again what kind of place is Northamptonshire in terms of being horsey and the cost of liveing in. I have tried the tourist information centres but only list family attractions

I am in MK but Bert is just over the border in Northamptonshire.

The cost of living is reasonable it is just north enough to escape being sucked into south east prices...bizarre as that 10 miles seems to make all the difference.

Not sure about the town's horseyness but there is plenty of countryside that is. Night life is pretty good too.
 
depends what sort of house you want. In towns the house prices are obviously alot cheaper.
If you stick to somewhere northern northants it's alot cheaper.
Verge onto leicestershire and you will be paying through the nose.
I'd recommend irthlingborough area for cheapness and access to more horsey people.
 
I really cannot reply to that without risking offending the peeps of Irthlingborough.
I could always point him in the direction of that place where all the backward axe murderers congregate round the chippy at 9pm nightly???

I live in Bedfordshire, but only about 4 miles from Northants. Have to say there seem to be more shows etc in Beds than Nothants, but maybe I look in the wrong places. Keysoe & Milton Keynes EC are not too far from Northampton.
 
I used to live in Ashton (down the lane from Roade, where there was/is a great pub incidentally, and the oddest little village shop) I was at a racing yard so we didn't go to any shows but it was a pretty horsey area and lots of bridleways (and mad farmers) Good hunting too.
 
Bedfordshire is next to Northamptonshire and is pretty horsey. there are some nice villages in Northants, but you need to know where to go! Both areas have a lot of farming and are relatively horsey, but I would prefer a village in North Beds to Northants!

As an ex Northants girl I'd recommend having a look around Nobottle,Brington,Harlestone, Brampton areas
Miles and miles off off road riding!!! Plus lots of livery yards too! Cost of houses is quite high for the villages but bargains can be found in Northamptons surrounding suburbs, like Duston-popular area.
Personally I would exercise extreme caution around Northamptons eastern districts

keep ours in Brampton (live in kingsthorpe) and hacking is great.
