Hey guys. Im jobhunting at the moment and considering a possible move to Northern Ireland. At the moment the job Im looking at is in the north west - mixed practice - mostly cattle. However even if this isnt right for me, theres a good chance Id be moving north anyway soon enough.
So I have a few questions.
I dont currently have a horse (well not old enoughfor breaking). Im not really someone who could go back to riding riding school horses. I do however want to get back into horses properly - as a hobby. I have some experience riding out racehorses and have worked with yearlings, mare and foals etc so can handle any horse. Would it be easy enough to find someone who needs a hand with their horses/youngsters? Or are there many trainers or pt-to-pt yards around the north?

I wouldnt be in a position to buy a horse (I think) as I will proably either go to the states or australia after a year or so. What would the average livery price be? There is the possibility of buying a project with a view to selling at the end of the year - not necessary to make a profit, but not too much of a loss as havestudent loans to pay off.
Whats the horse community like up there?
Any other info you might have on riding clubs, etc or the NI horse community would be appreciated. Ta

Definitely, lots of 20 odd girls doing racehorse riding as a stop gap, so shouldn't be an issue. Whereabouts are you thinking of going?
When we livereied (talking 4-5years ago) livery was around 50/week but not at a great yard!
Generally good horse community, lots of shows on, good riding clubs about, if your north west you'll be near maddybenny maybe? Which has lovely owners.
Think there are a fair few members up north west, I'm not far off belfast so a bit different area.
