Norton saddles - yay or nay?

I'd say yay

They are on composite trees by Peter Thorowgood - so the dude who started Thorowgood

Well constructed, but like Wintecs and Bates they are not going to fit every horse - but seem to be a standard TB fit

I have the Norton stock saddle, which I'm pleased with, the only annoying this is the biothane backed webbing girth straps are a pain to use initially. I would even consider a trip to the saddler to swap for leather ones!

Oh ok thats interesting, not what I was expecting at all. Nothing fits every horse though even the normal Thorowgoods

They look very similar to the cheap old version of the Hi Lite saddles, sold by Shires and some of the other saddlery wholesalers.
I would question if they are actually anything to do with Thorowgood at all?
The Hi Lites were made in India.
I will investigate and see and I will stand to be corrected if I am wrong, Oz

I dont think they are to do with the company thorowgood but maybe designed by peter thorowgood and made by norton?? I look forward to hearing what you find out

The newer ones are not like Hi Lite, this is a completely different supplier btw

The trees are by Peter Thorowgood, based in NZ I believe and they have consistent stuffing

The stock saddle I have is quite well made, but no where near as comfy as my uber expensive leather ones. This is why I often take my Norton stock abroad.

I just got the norton stock saddle for sasha, after trying dozens it's the only one that came closest to a good fit for a high withered narrow TB. Have just ordered the stock stirrups and leathers to go with it. Yes it's not as good as some we tried, but they wouldn't fit and were £700 or more.. I think they are good value for money, and my son said its comfy to ride in.
