Hi my mum had 2 (not at the same time) very nice dogs but do need a lot of walking and a very good hoover .

We have been working on little Pig's issues and he even had an outing where he met six other dogs nose to nose withouht attempting to eat any of them! He is going to be introduced to my parents in laws new puppy next weekend in the hope that they will become friends... Long story short, we like the elkhound if we were to work towards having a second dog. I'm not about to underestimate the shedding issue though which sounds pretty dramatic if the hoover advice is anything to go by!

They are lovely dogs and my mums one's lived well into there teens and one even whent to Crufts , but as i said good hoover or no carpet

Have a look at the sibe and malamute threads see how they shed and you will kind of get the idea of what happens with the elk hound

Yes the shedding is awful, the joy of owning a spitz breed :-D
