My horse is chucking his head when he works, i have had his teeth done and this is only just happened he is not a head shaker but a noseband hater!! I have tried a normal nose band but he opens his mouth to avaid he did not like the flash and we then tried the drop which was much much worse he threw himself everywhere. Anyway I took the nose band off completly yesterday as had enough he went like a dream until canter where he put his tounge over the bit so now I know he is trying to avid me with all the nose bands. so i have no idea what do you and would like some expert advise not sure what the answer is have a lesson tonight so normal cavason noseband i think. Out hacking I cant hold him and will need to flash attachement ect at wits end HELP PLEASE!!! I have changed his bit to a happy mouth to see if that helps as well

Have you perhaps tried a bitless bridle? I know it sounds crazy but they do still keep the horse in check. When I first got my horse, about 8 yrs ago , I found that he hated all sorts of bits and nosebands. In the end I went for a Dutch gag. He is very strong , but a gag pulls on the poll at the top of their head, rather than on the mouth itself. You may also want to try something that has a curb chain, like a phelham. This keeps the mouth shut without anything on the nose. Does he have a martingale? This may control the head shaking. You should also look into the state of his gums. Mine had to have his wall teeth taken out a few yrs ago. They're a bit like wisdom teeth, tiny but very painful. Also check for abscesses on the gums. Hope this helps....

he is not very strong at all if anything he needs to take more of a hold will try bitless thing used to have a horse in a hackamore will give it a go as far as no noseband we have the issue of the tounge over the bit!! Great advise thanks!!

My pony is fine in the school but out hacking or hunting he was opening his mouth putting his head down between his knees and galloping of with me sat there unable to do anything that made any difference. He hated a flash and just threw his head around for a couple of minutes then started running backwards threating to rear. I found that a grackle worked wonders, he is happy in it (not in the school thought) and I can slow down and stop!!! In the school I still ride him in his usual loose caveson noseband because he goes well in it.
