lesson tues slight bleed from one nostril. Rode today 9am worked him hard no nose bleed. Spoke to my vet and he said if it happens to call him out. Should i panic, i am worried my horse has something serious now.
My girl had quite a few nosebleeds last year but this was due to her having choked. She was scoped by the vet a few times and once everything had cleared up the bleeding stopped.
She had 2 more a couple of months ago and she was scoped again by the vet just to be on the safe side due to her problems last year.
Vet said she was fine and unless there is bleeding from both nostrils and lots of blood not to worry about it.
Nose bleeds are quite common. If its from 1 nostril its likely to be in the nasal passage and if its from 2 from the nasopharynx.
If its a one off then don't worry about it and if it persists or becomes routine after exercise you might want to get it investigated as there may be a little blood vessel that needs cauterising and that's an easy procedure.
