I guess I'm feeling rather sorry for myself and my boy and need a bit of a moan :(
After getting a rather upsetting text from a fellow livery last night, I started the daunting task of looking for a new home for Jerry.
Thanks to all the Glasvegas HHO-ers, I managed to make a tentative list of yards to phone and visit.

I found it very frustrating that the majority of yards didn't answer their phones (they could have been busy, which is fair enough) but didn't bother phoning back after I had left my contact details so I ended up getting in the car and going down in person.

The first yard offered full livery but was a bit run down and didn't have individual turnout.
The second yard I went to was a bit better but didn't do full livery and chucked all their horses into same-sex fields, which I'm not too keen on tbh.
The third place I went to was dirty and run down and didn't have any places (I left messages with this place and they didn't bother picking up the phone).

I gave up for the day at that point. Even Jerry seems to have picked up on something not being quite right at the yard - he's really jumpy and keeps pulling faces at me and shoving him bum in my face (his defense mechanism when he's feeling threatened), which isn't like him.

Anyways, I finally got given my notice letter so it's now official - he'll be homeless this time next month.
Sorry for the long-winded moan. I just keep thinking this isn't happening.

Sorry tohear you've been given notice to leave your yard - I don't know the reasons why.

Anyway, don't get too downhearted about the yards you have visited so far. I'm sure there are a few more for you to visit. If it comes to it you may have to opt for the 1st or 2nd yard you saw today until you can find something more suitable.

Something will turn up - perhaps you should put your location on here and someone might know of something .

<< Big hugs for you and Jerry >>

We moved yards with three days notice - it can be done!

Steel yourself for a few very hectic weeks and keep on going out there looking at yards.
I'm sure you will find somewhere, even if it's only temporay until you find the perfect place :)

From the sounds of all that you totally deserve a good moan... and a stiff drink :(

Can't be of any help at all in looking for new livery, but can offer you a drink and a hug.

Really hope it gets sorted soon - fingers crossed that you'll find somewhere amazing where you and Jerry'll be incredibly happy and it will all have worked out for the best :)

I did - unfortunately everything seems to be diy and on the other side of town (40-60 minutes drive) but i guess beggars can't be choosers.

My lovely RI has put in a few calls to some of his friends so I'm really hoping that they have somewhere for us to go.
Trouble is, my current yard is so nice that nowhere is going to ever be comparable - we're so spoilt by some of the facilities and being given notice has really come as a shock as last month they were talking about pushing for more liveries.

Trish C - unfortunately for me, I'm nightshift tonight otherwise I'd be straight down the pub drowning my sorrows in several kegs of magners

I left the letter in the car but it's along the lines of we want to expand for BSJA and look into BE so we need the stables and apparently there's been 3 incidents in the last 18 months where staff have been injured by liveries - we've been there 10 months and two of the incidents were caused by the same horse kicking out. I agree that the staff should be able to work without getting hurt but if you work with horses, you should know that its a possibility
