So i decided to go to Solihull today despite the fact that i had to go alone...

I arrived just before 12, hoping i could pretty much get on and go as i was only jumping the disco. Fat chance!! They had the first competitor in for the BN and there were loads in it...so i had to wait...i went in the tack shop, watched a few go round...went in the tack shop again

It was time to warm up around three o'clock!!

She warmed up really, really well. Ive been bought a new pair of fancy stirrups and i really feel they are helping me with my position and the work i have been doing with Di....

Anyway, to cut a long story short we went in and........got eliminated!

Im really disappointed and starting to feel rather disheartened.

She jumped the first fine, i got a bad line to the second (an oxer on a dog leg) and she stopped. Jumped it second time to the third which was a combination, jumped in....a little to the right and she stopped in the middle...

I just dont know where to go from here. I've been working really hard and am so disappointed, i dont know if its me being crap...or maybe she just isnt a tryer...perhaps i should just get on with it and have faith that it will come....

Any advice would be appreciated!! I didnt get any pictures or anything, and it is hard to say what was going on as i didnt have any eyes on the ground.

Honestly? I think you are trying too hard. After your lesson with Di you prob were trying to remember every single thing that was said to you and trying to implement it so came off as slightly indecisive to your horse. Relax, you know you can do a disco with your eyes closed

Weezy - I actually wanted to cry when i read that... i think your right. I feel like i'm putting alot of pressure on myself (and for no reason really).... i am so upset that i couldnt even get round a disco today!!

I think i need someone with me that will give me a slap when i start to try and do too much.

(wonders if they would be a 'slapper'...haha...)

Why did you not txt me you fool!

I wouldn't worry too much, Your probabl trying to remember everything you've been told by DI are are trying to think about too much at once, don't worry, you'll go clear next time
smile.gif

I don't like to hear you down as I love seeing your jumping pics with a big grin on your face
smile.gif
Why don't you go out and do a few BNs to warm up and then Discos for fun and take the pressure off yourself - fact is you won't be able to implement the good teaching if you are concentrating too hard on it! (((Hug))) And I will be your slapper if you like
wink.gif

I want to be your slapper :P just kidding...
I agree its hard to go and and try to live up to ourselves when weve have amazing lessons. You can jump the D in your sleep by now!

Come over to moulton on the 17th. You can jump the 90am qual then the 1mtr open. Hell I'll even be a slapper for the day if you like. Plus I'll make sure we jump at different times so I can play jump putterupper as well. Have to agree, I think you are doing what I had a period of doing .....trying too hard.
The 17th will JUST BE FUN

I think we've all had days like that fee-fee....my horse had his advert drafted earlier this week due to my total inability to ride him properly if that makes you feel better? (And yes, I was serious, and may still be, I waited 24hrs and rode again before posting the ad though, and have not don it as yet....)

sorry your feeling down after your show.. I think everyone is right, you are MORE than capable of doing it without trying so hard. Try taking the pressure off yourself a bit, and remember WE ALL HAVE BAD DAYS.

Only last week I got eliminated for jumping a fence in a J/O backwards!

Very sorry you had a bad day but look at it this way, it can only get better... have faith, keep working and good luck

I know what you mean S_C... Henni has got until Chepstow for us to start getting some decent results together, or he's off

I am not giving it that long, and if mine goes, horses go entirely as I will never find another horse as good, and in the manner of all the best break-ups, it's not him, it's me.....

oi you -
dont be so silly!

now have a slap from me.....

and now pull yourself together!

1) whenever i talk to you you just talk about your plans with feta - and i agree that you are trying to hard instead of ENJOYING yourself! you wil get there hun - but you need to give yourself a break and not be so damn hard on yourself!

2) little miss feta has only just come back from her winter break so remember that she may be being cheeky! ( sniff is an ass after a break!)

take yourself somewhere fun - where you have no pressure like a unaffiliated patchetts or something.

and im still up - so give me a call!!!

Ditto that Weezy, I love seeing your pics!

I'm also so bad at putting pressure on myself but sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture and realise how far you've come, rather than the short term goal. Everyone has good and bad days and once you stop worrying about your ability all the things you've learnt will come into affect and you'll be winning before you know it.

You seem to have a great partnership with your horse, and on those foundations you can go anywhere

I got eliminated at Solihull in the discovery 2 weeks ago! I had two run outs too, both in combinations!! Glad its not just me! It is gutting, and it def help to have someone there to help, my friend didn't even see my round but when I explained what i felt, she just told me what the problem sounded like and I went in the 1.05 and jumped round fine!!

Its difficult competing on your own, I think you are automatically on edge, which is going to transmit to your horse, on top of thinking about your lessons and stuff, it was probably all too much!

Go out and have fun next time with no expectations and it will probably be 100 times better!
