Just a couple of not particularly interesting piccies of my little project pony

For those who dont know I got him as a mahooooosive bargain as apparently he was unrideable, dangerous etc only suitable to be a companion. Well i thought massive waste of a 5yr old! Well I rebacked him and he has been good as gold!

These piccies were taken the other day of us playing around in the field - excuse the horrendous case of pony squishing!!!!

Unfortunately these are taken just after I got back on having plopped off on my head! Was having a lovely canter and a pheasant flew up from under his feet into his face! Naturally he shat himself and leapt about 10 foot to the right, I sailed about 10 ft to the left and landed head first oooops!!! Pony then disappeared into the distance at a speed I didnt know he had in him!haha! I then spent about 10 mins looking for my whip before i went to retrieve him - terrible i know! BF was with me and literally wetting himself. Found pony grazing happily outside the gate to his field, all tack luckily still intact and no harm done. Luckily for me 13.2 is not a long way down!! I do have some rather hilarious vids to upload once my laptop starts cooperating!

He is now a bit of a pro popping over jumps from trot so I'm going to start having a go in canter :) Think he will make a fab little pc pony!

Heres his cute little face without me the fat porker on him :)

love him!!

What a fab little pony and what a good job you have done. Its amazing what going back to basics can do for a pony. I suppose for ponies the problem is finding someone small enough to do this. When kids ponies start playing up (often through no fault of therir own) ypu get into a catch 22 situation, nervous tense kid + nervous tense pony = disaster. I hope pony contiunes to do well. What are you going to do with him eventualy?

He's lovely. Most unrideable ponies become angels with someone a little too big on them... Try introducing younger, smaller riders too before you rehome him. they're not daft these ponies, and know who can ride them and who can't!

YAY it's Horrids twin. :D:D:D:D Looks like he's coming on well and he's soooooo cute (are you shore you don't want to keep him ;) :p :D ) Hope you find him a fab home soon.

Totally agree Magicmillbrook

Thanks all :)

yes native ponies, he is a registered forest bred NF, I know his breeding but have no idea if it is any good or not!!

magicmillbrook - i have tried a couple of other people - a fairly novice friend of mine and 2 little boys who came to try him out - aged 10 and a small 14, and he was good as gold very quiet :)

Jack9 unfortunately bf was not filming when i fell off - im gutted!!!!haha!! However he took some questionable videos where all steering seems to have gone out the window and I look ridiculous :)

The plan is to sell him, I would love him to go and do PC and so I will wait til I find a lovely home for him - theres no massive rush to sell him, he doesnt cost me much and Im having loads of fun with him, he is a really quick learner and gets better every day :)

Just a word of warning..........
My friend had a pony she wanted to sell as a companion only. He was a gorgeous boy most of the time BUT every now and then, totally out of the blue, he would bronc like pro. He didn't mean 'I don't like that' he meant 'you are coming off NOW'. He was checked out all over, saddle, teeth, back even horse whisperer and nothing came up. You could never tell when he was going to do it and that was the dangerous part.
When she advertised him, putting all this info, she had a lady ring up who wanted a bargain pony FOR HER DAUGHTER!!!!!
Hope it works okay for you but do you know why he was advertised as being dangerous?

Hi 1life :) yep, he belonged to this 'riding school'/'rescue centre' INTERESTING organisation to say the least. The woman running it means well but is basically clueless. She uses her 'rescued ponies' to teach kids to ride on. She rescued bailey apparently but yet he was obese and had such overgrown feet he could barely walk - and she was using him for lessons. He was never backed properly and never taught the aids for canter as from the start he was ridden by kids who were complete beginners and nervous as anything. So they would kick kick kick pull on him etc to try and get him to canter. He got fed up and had a little buck. kids plopped off. Basically she decided he was too dangerous for her 'riding school' and i got him.

I got his feet done so he is sound now, and a half decent saddle which fits him. This in itself I believe has made a huge difference. I taught him the aids to canter properly and he hasnt put a foot wrong since :)

I think to be honest a complete lack of knowledge, decent riding, bad feet and tack on a young, newly (incorrectly) broken pony was just a bad combination! You can never say never but he seems like a changed pony :) and even with a teeny 10 year old on behaved like an angel (including having a canter) :)

Thanks everyone for the nice messages :)

thanks kate :)

any luck getting rid of your tb's? I still really like the lovely ellie :) Hmmmmm wonder if I could convince the BF to pay for a second pony :)
