Does anyone hate the though of not being able to ride?? I havent been able to ride my mare for about 10 days due to a back injury but its like hell!!! Does anyone else have the same problem??
I would hate not being able to ride, however, I often choose not to ride for periods of time. Like now, it's too hot (34C in the shade) everything breaks into a sweat just thinking about moving, I haven't ridden for about a fortnight now I think.
Yes! I have not been able to ride fro 3 months because of a back problem but I am hoping to sit on him for the first time on Sunday and have a gentle plod for 20 mins to slowly get myself back into it. Fingers crossed my back does not start grumbling! I have missed riding soooooooo much!
My first pony, I bought a year ago, and after four weeks she injured herself and she has just recovered now to do light work and gradually build up lol. So 11 months off lol! i'm so rusty
I really hate not riding & get depressed if I miss more than a day. I'm grounded for a week now as Adrian lost a shoe in my jumping lesson & the farrier can't come til Tues. He is a bit foot sore so I can't do anything.
When I have an enforced layoff, I try to make the most of the 'extra' time & do stuff I don't usually have time for, like have a really intensive poo pick, oil my tack, read a book, muck out the kitchen...
When I had to have my horse put to sleep unexpectedly in April this year, I thought I would have a year off from owning a horse. I thought I wouldn't be able to love another one after I lost Jake. But then I found that I missed riding soooo much, I was on the internet every day looking for horses! Even though I'd had offers from friends that I could ride their horses, I missed being able to ride whenever I wanted to so that's why I bought my lovely new Jerry (in my avatar) last month.
Didn't think I would miss riding as much as I did but more than that, I missed having a horse!
When my horse was diagnosed with a tear in his tendon, the thought of not riding for months on end was unimaginable....eight weeks down the line , all I want is him sound enough to turn him out properly in the field, you kind of adjust to it and it happens very quickly. Have been riding other peoples horses but it's just not the same though helps me get some exercise apart from skipping out and mucking out. Goodness just realise I sound like am feeling sorry for myself which am not as back to the vet next week so fingers crossed!
I couldn't ride for 5 months when I broke my leg last year - hated it at first but just got in the habit of not riding! I go through phases of riding every day, then phases of not riding for weeks, not sure why
. I don't mind not riding if its my choice, but when its not it annoys me!
