My 19 yr old KWPN is hanging onto his coat, become quite plump and developed warts. The coat thing has been going on for the last 18 months, he is quite a good doer and the warts have appeared/multiplied in the last 6 months.

I've had him tested for Cushings and EMS and the tests have come back negative.

He is currently very scurfy with a passion for itching.

I'm of the opinion that it is an immune system problem but wondered if anyone else had any ideas.

Lots are hanging on to their coats at the moment due to the weather.

You mention he was itching and had alot of scurve if he has a long coat get him checked for lice.

Its quite common over winter/spring to get lice particularly in thicker coats.

I have a pony who has cushings been test 3 times each time tested negative.

All the classic symptons, fat deposits, laminitis, long seasons, pot belly etc.

Vet put on prascend anyway as still thought she has cushings and she has been much better the last two years.

It might be worth retesting for cushings in the autumn - ithe acth test is only 80% reliable.
Have a look at ecirhorse.com for more information on management regimes.
