Not exactly about dogs....actually cats! Bengal Kitten photos....

Know this is supposed to be about dogs, but there is no cat section on the forum.....and I just HAD to share photos of our kitten. He is now 14 weeks old and the coolest little creature ever....

Despite coming home with us just 10 days ago, and then having to move house 5 days later, and being forced to live with a rottweiler! He has settled incredibly well and he and the dog now get on famously. I'll have to take photos of them together, the cat must weigh about 1/50th of what the dog does!

Does anyone else have a bengal? I wonder if they are all as confident/adaptable as ours or whether we have just been very lucky!

He's an F6, but totally agree about being quite dog-like. He follows you around the house, nicked a bone off the dog the other day (yes, from the 50kg Rottie!) and settled down to knaw it like a dog would, and also will play tug of war with a toy, shaking it like a terrier will!!
 
i cant see pics as im on my mobile but i also have a bengal called molly, in my avatar. She's the exact same and we are currently on the train from glasgow to london where she is sat next to me all cool like a little lap dog! I take her all over the place and I have never met such a laid back confident cat. is definitely the breed i think

_April_, thats so cool! I'm assuming she is in some kind of cat basket rather than on a lead though? Or not? Nothing would surprise me though with these cats.
I just spoke to my husband (who was totally un-bothered about getting a cat and is now totally besotted with the kitten!) who was telling me that after I left to do the stables this morning, he rolled over in bed, virtually onto the cat who had joined him, and far from being scared the cat just yowled at him and batted him with a paw before going back to sleep!
They do seem to be really adaptable confident creatures, and pretty hardy too. The breeder said just to let him get on with doing all the mental things he will do, like walking along the top of the flat screen tely and eating earthworms - she said not to worry, he'll soon learn if it is a bad idea!
 
i use a cat bag to get her to and from the train but once on the train i let her out and she either sits on my knee or on the table in her box with the door open! She does actually wear a harness and lead just for safety lol i think it helps that she is so lazy that she just sleeps! Everyone on the train is always amazed at how well behaved she is but i cant take credit as i got her when she was 4 from a rescue centre. Have taken a pic on my mob and will post it later hehe x
 
That is awesome! Bet you get some funny looks. I'd love to see some photos! Of her generally too tho as well as on the train, as I've only seen the ones on website of the ones owned by breeders usually, plus our kitten's mum and dad obviously.
Thats surprising to get one from a rescue centre, I wonder how she ended up there?
 
We think my cat is a bengal cross because he has a lot of the markings. He was a rescue kitten. He loves to follow me all over the house, but he is not confident! Runs and hides under my bed when the doorbell rings!

Are there lots of Bengals in the states then? I'm not really sure how common they are over here, know some of them are very expensive!!
 
OMG how cute!! I have seen them before and would have liked to have got one but got my girls (cats!) instead coz they were cheaper!

Dont they say they are more dog like coz they are closer to the original wild cats i.e. they hunt etc or something like that...

Yep, they say they are more dog like in terms of things like hunting and mine will definately knaw on a bone and guard it like a dog. They also swim (ours already gets in the shower!) and are very companionable little things it would seem!!
He was a bit expensive (£350) but he is my christmas present from OH and that isn't that much more than my mum's persians were!

She was only there for 2 days and then I was lucky enough to go in looking for a house cat. I didn't know she was anything special I just thought she was a moggy!!
Don't have any papers or anything like that but a lady at my vets who breeds them is convinced she is a Bengal and has shown me all the markings. I'm not 100% convinced as she only has a smattering of spots. She's special no matter what though

Emma_C - I have seen a few breeders over here. They are pretty expensive though.

Dublin - I know. Flat on his back with his legs akimbo is his favourite position unfortunately! Unless he is laying in my arms like a baby!

Yep, they do get pretty large! Our kitten has grown so much in the week we've had him. April - Molly is ace, just love the one of her on the train!

you might be thinking of the Maine Coon or the Norwegian Forest Cat. I bought an NFC a few years ago and she is very dog like too and incredibly affectionate. She is also v particular about who she does & doesn't like! I will see if I can get a pic up...
