Not had a head desk in a while ..

Just some points for potential GSD puppy buyers to be aware of if they are reading that ad:

- So 'of course' they are hipscored and health is a priority - WHAT WERE THE SCORES THEN?
- They don't look purebred to me
- I don't know what 'panda' is supposed to mean with these pups or why it is rare. USA people breed for 'panda' (distinct tricolour markings with reverse mask) markings by outcrossing and crossing back in again (see previous point)
- Extra two big ones for mask?!
- GSDs are not supposed to be a giant breed
- Blue and white are not standard colours
- Neither of my dogs, which have five gens of health tested (hips, elbows, eyes, haem tests for males) and either show or working competition or service dogs behind them, cost that much. They are also good pets :)

I told you not to look CC! I agree they look as if they have samoyed or similar in the mix somewhere. The hip score comment is classic isn't it, but don't forget they have BIG PAWS. I found another ad and they are proudly boasting that the stud dog is 32" at the shoulder and the bitch weighs 60 kg!

The thing is anyone who dosnt know about GSD and I include myself in this would fall for this ad, apart from the hip scores etc which I would want to see what hope is there for the general public. Also as they seem far too big and I would check with the breed standard the majority of people would think they were getting something very unusual for their money.

Looking at the pics 6th one down appears to be of mum... can't say GSD springs to mind when looking at her.
most people are just going to look and see cute fluffy little puppies.... doh!

Can't comment. Would have to write essay. Mind is boggling.

*pours another glass of wine and starts to hum the "la la la I didn't see that" song*

Mum looks like a GSD x Retreiver and Dad looks like Husky or Collie cross.

The sable pups look like my RSPCA mutt (we think GSD x Collie).

The seller sounds like she's a few sandwiches short of a picnic......

But the pedigree will be like no other pedigree you have ever seen, absolutely stunning and nice enough to be framed.

You just can't argue with that!!??!

I know little about German Shepherds so correct me if I'm wrong but aren't white ones considered to be undesirable?

She likes to talk though - wouldn't want to be trapped in a lift with her........

Correct, whites are a non-standard colour, as are blues and livers and lack of saddle or mask is also incorrect. You cannot show them under KC or SV (German) rules.
The SV have just started to allow long-coats (with undercoats) to be shown.

I bet the poor pups are fed up of being handled if she is with them day and night, can just imagine the fuss they would make in a new home if god forbid they were left on their own!
I missed the boat many years ago, I had a litter with 2 blues in it. Once I had recovered from the shock, and consulted with the late Malcolm Willis the geneticist, the pups were sold for a token amount, without papers. The lighter of the two stayed blue but the darker went black but his gold bits were a sort of dusky colour if that makes sense. I really should have thought of an exotic name for it, maybe peaches & cream.

Aside from the BIG PAWS.......

If I made a new thread entitled "guess the breed(s)" and posted the fifth picture (1st pic of white pup) what responses do you suppose I'd get???

The white one reminds me of the Pyrennean Mountain dog we used to have but with a narrower muzzle. Its the cream points on the ears that look familiar, but if the add hadnt said GSD I wouldnt have guessed it! Have you seen the size of their paws:)

DEY ARE SO FLUFFAY!!!!!
look at the size of dem feeeeets!!! :D:D:D:D *ducks to avoid CC's paw rage*

Okay but yes, wouldn't buy one. seems dodgy to me :o

i despaired at the line: "we will definitely be repeating this breeding"...
