Sorry...long!

Well basically, i found out yesterday these 12/13 year old girls have been going in the horses field and riding them :O!!!!! The field consists of my horse and 5 other horses and the field is right next to a housing estate, on the left of the field is a MASSIVE public field and to the right is a MASSIVE woods. And for some reason lots of people like to walk through the field whether its to walk the dog or to 'hang around' even though there not supposed to, i actually dont know why because they have to cross the public field to get into the horses field, now i have confronted loads of people about not walking in the field as its private, but i just get a load of back chat about not being the farmer..bla bla bla, even from OAPS! But even the farmer doesnt want them in! So basically i have just accepted that no one is going to listen, but i just worry about the horses getting harmed by a dog or people riding them; which has happened!!!!!!!! The girls have taken photos of them and renamed them claiming them as theirs and actually calling a boy horse 'becky', which i find quite funny, but they were also pictured on some of the horses and were silly enough to put them on facebook!! One of the horses they are on cant be ridden for months due to injury (becky)!!! Which would usually be the first to buck off anything to touch his back, but due to soreness i'm sure he didnt try! So anyway i went to the parents house (2 of them) and complained in a reasonable manner, but the parents seemed to not give a ****. But anyway apparently the horses were one of the girls 'uncles horses who she rides all the time'. I know its every girls dream to have a horse but not ride other peoples without consent, without even a head collar or a hat on! Not only was it stupid but dangerous! And knowing the type of people from the area i would probably get a gob full about how their precious darling has split their head open from innocently riding my dangerous horse. Grrrrr!!!! Give me strength! I think the horses field has some kind of gravitational pull to it or something because i dont even think a 10ft wall could keep people out! I am very sorry i had to rant!! anger all gone!!

Have you considered moving?

Ultimately it's the farmer that should be sorting this out and obviously shouldn't be happening in the first place. When I was young the worst I did was feed the local horses an apple, one of which was kept in a big back garden!

I'd be furious! I'd have my horse moved elsewhere if at all possible. Failing that run an electric fence, preferably mains and have it on 24/7.

I seriously wouldnt be happy!! If there was no way of stopping them I would move my horse.

shame the horse with the injury didnt buck them off!

Do you want to borrow Horrid ;) They'll never enter your field again and deff won't ride a strange horse if any :p :D :D

I once had a couple come into the yard ranting about a horse. It turned out they had gone into Lucys field and desided to have a picnic. This was when she was wild and would attack people. There where signs on the fence all round the field saying "Do not enter Dangours horse" (obviosly with the correct spelling if that is wrong :o) Lucy chased the people out the field and When i went to have a look she was munching happily on her picnic.
They wanted me to go in and retrive there stuff but i laughed at them and said i could read the sign so i wasn't going in there :p :D :D :D

I know, but movings easy said than done, i have been at this yard for 6 years and have been very happy, fab people, and access to facilities and lots of riding places. the other fields are full, so hopefully i will be having no more problems, but if there is i will be giving them smacked bottoms!! Ha me and the yard people were joking on about sticking the stallion in the field who has quite a temper! XD

I'd say stick the stallion out there !!!
Seriously have a word with the police you may find it comes under 'criminal damage' or something like that, they also will probably go to the parents house to have a word. Is there an equine liason officer attached to your local police force, ours is VERY helpful.
You could try electric fencing all round and BIG BIG signs saying trespassers will be prosecuted.
Horrible kids you can bet your life if one of them gets hurt you'll be the one to blame.
Good luck with it all hope you get it sorted !

Borrow Lucy/the stallion/or our mare :P they won't come into the field a second time!!

Surely its classed as trespassing? If they're only young, you should point out that they could be done for trespassing it may be enough to worry them into not doing it again?

I was planning on getting police involved but i seriously dont think they will do anything, Ive seen the parents, but if it happens again i think i will have to ring police, its daft! Problem is if i was to try and sort it myself by grabbing them by the ear and chuck them out the field i would probably get done for GBH...wonderful! Besides the majority of them run as soon as they see us (yard people) in the distance.

Little b***ers aren't they?
I know it seems daft to you, but its not. Its trespassing, its dangerous, it could prove harmful to your horses and you'd get it in the neck if any of them got thrown off and injured! (such as our wonderful country is... ) Tell the police all of this and tell them you've notified their parents who don't really care...

Failing this, call the police tell them that kids are trespassing in your field, your horses have thrown them off and you've shot them in the leg for trespassing and they best hurry up...they'd be there in minutes! :D
(joke!!)

LOL that reminded me of a woman near my parents who had burglers in her garage. She phoned the police who said they couldn't come over as they where to buisy. She hung up and a few minuets later she phoned them back and told them not to bother coming as she had shot them. Within minuets police surrounded her house inclu and armed unit. Unfortunatly the burglers had gone.
The police asked her what was going on and they thought she had said she had shot someone.
To which the woman replyed " i thought you said you where to buisy to come out"
I think she got into trouble for waisting police time though

...trouble is...if one of the horses *had* injured one of them, chances are there would be a way that YOU would be liable!!! I hate this country and its rules sometimes!!!

This is the sort of crrapp this country has bred, do what I like, say what I like, go where I like, park wher I like, dump my crraapp where I like, while we have goverments continually unwilling to dish out penalies with any meaning, and parents who are only interested in their next Giro, well you can all look forward to more of the same.

As I always say when anyone moans about my horse pooing on the road, "it's not the shiitte comeing out of my horse ares which is the problem, it's the shiitte being bred and comeing off the estates you need to worry about"

I wouldn't be happy either!!!

You have addresses for at least 2 of the girls? Ring the BHS legal helpline and ask for advice on the wording of letters to the parents reminding them of their obligations and responsibility for the actions of their children - send them recorded delivery. Hopefully the thought of having to pay up for any damage that their kids cause might persuade them to keep them under control.

Also inform the police, get a crime number/reference - they probably won't come out but that can be added to the letter.

If they are school age (hopefully all at the same school) ask the head teacher if they would mind bringing up the rights, wrongs and dangers of riding other peoples animals at an assembly. Your local paper might also run a story especially if you do a bit of a sob story about a poor injured horse being ridden and so forth...

A bit of work but you want them to feel persecuted on all sides :D:D

Pendatic and maisy i know exactly what you mean, this country is so backwards!! Honestly you get prosecuted for the simplest of things but when it comes to situations like this they have nothing to do with it.

I wouldn't be happy either!!!

They are of school age but i think they go to different schools, one of them has apologized and says she will never do it again, (hopefully). Sounds like i good idea though, although i dont think it will be a big enough story for a paper :) No one ever gives a ****, one day kids like this will learn though!
