I need some help I have a wedding reception to go to, im not into dresses can I wear black trousers and a smart top like a coloured shirt and something?? any suggestions pretty please I have never been to one before so don't have a clue,

You could certainly wear smart trousers and top to a 'normal' wedding reception.

If a very formal or posh do though a dress/skirt suit etc might be more appropriate

I think I'd ask if there is a dress code and it would also depend on whether you are attending the service and reception or just perhaps in the evening. Have a great time.

I have worn a cream trouser suit before to my cousin's wedding. It had a bandeau top with it (was from Oasis if I recall) and was very nice (until my sister spilt red wine down the back of the trousers anyway!).

Have you considered a maxi-dress if you're feeling self conscious about wearing dresses? I was never a dress person but have come around the last few years!

White trousers would be better if you don't want to show leg otherwise a skirt. Strappy shoes with a nice top.

Don't wear white. It's the brides perogative to wear white, even if she chooses not to. Trousers, rather than jeans though I have been to a wedding where a few guests wore jeans. Suppose it's what you consider to be appropiate & smart enough for the occasion. Trousers are fine & there are lots of lovely colours out there. Splash some cash & treat yourself.
