My boy was shod last monday but he's been a bit off ever since, he's fine in walk on a stragh line, but a bit footy/1-10th lame on a tight circle and the same in trot, i think looking at it it's a front leg, he had a very easy week and has had fri,sat and sun off in the field, i got on him this afternoon and he's the same no better no worse, does it sound like a shoe problem or has he done something to his leg and it's just fits in with him being shod?, i would give him a bute but had an accident and trew all my bute out when i was tiding up last weekend!!, what do you guys think?.

could it be his back or muscles. mine seemed lame for a bit but it wasn't his legs. he had muscle knots in his shoulders that could only be seen on circles. i was really worried that there was a foot/ leg problem but some massage techniques the vet told me helped. may be worth a go??

i would ring farrier first thing and get him to take a look. have you tried hoof testers around the foot? could be nail bind?? any heat in the foot? my mare was lame like this for 3 weeks and then an abscess burst

My horse has done this recently. She was sound, she got shod, and she went lame - only obvious in trot on a smallish left circle. Farrier checked for nail prick/ abcess but as expected she never went lame enough. Done the shoe off and back on thing, still the same. With her its due to thin soles, collapsed heels (particularly on the inside of her right fore) and corns. Its not the shoeing that causes the lameness in her case, more the altering of angles and change in pressure areas due to shoeing that shows up a problem she's got. Don't know if your horse is likely to be the same, I just thought I'd tell you in case it helps.
