Not needing another Cat Thread **Progress Update**

Well, I was beginning to think OMG what have I done - I know it's going to take time, but I was beginning to think maybe kitty was feral for too long.
Poor Kitty's fear was getting worse and worse so I moved her to the lounge to be with us all in the evenings as the only time she relaxes is if one of my other cats is around - and sadly the novelty has worn off a bit them.

Anyhoo, I decided to let her out this morning, with Toby my middle cat in the room.
I'm so pleased I did, as I had a purry little kitty who'd let me stroke her and even rolled on her back for me.
She's sensitive to touch and I have to be really slow with my hand movements nr her face, but she loved it, and let me stroke the back of her head, neck, and repeatedly down her back - all the time her tail was vertical and the purring motor going.

I have to say - Toby is my hero
I know he's good with other cats, but my god!!! she was throwing herself at his front feet, and rubbing her face against his and he just sat there and let her do it - no fuss, not uncomfortable, or anything.

I'm so relieved as I really thought she was going backwards in her progress, but I know what I need to do for a while before she gets to run the gauntlet in a few weeks with the rest of the mob as they're not as reliable as Toby.
 
**Further update**
We've been making very good progress, and i've been letting her out without security blanket Toby until a set back 2 nights ago - I found her peeing on the dogs bed and in my haste to move her to her litter tray, frightened her when trying to pick her up as she ran through my fingers, to the point she dived on her bed in the cage hissing and panting (Tobys presence wouldn't placate her)

It's awful to think what has happened to her. The PCL says she's not ferrel as i've done this within a week, but we suspect abuse as she's so frightened initially, was wetting the bed (doesn't anymore) and is very wary of hands and feet - hisses and belts if cornered.
And yet she lets me pick her up on her rib cage once i've stroked her a few times, but the minute I try to support her she flips. We're now wondering whether she was thrown out of the car as she'd stayed at the roadside for a number of days before being caught. Also when I stroke her she relaxes (have to start at the tail end), but she then rubs her face on my hand, rolls over and purrs - even lets me rub her tummy.

I'm so annoyed with myself for being a bit too quick and frightening her, and really was back to square one (I couldn't go near her on Tuesday night and had to shut her up and leave her she was so distressed), thankfully by last night she's just about back to where we were before the episode.
She's been romping round the house with Tobes, and even loves the dog - walks under Mollys tummy, through her legs and I even caught her giving Molly a face rub. (Molly has been amazing and just lies there whilsts she runs about and grabs her tail etc)

She still hisses at me when she's in the cage, but she's getting better, and is fine but cautious once out. She spent last night with Molly and I, sprawled out on the sofa - she wouldn't even come out of the cage the nigth before after said episode.

Finally, to let you know I've decided (99% sure I think) to call her Poppy.
She was dumped just before Rememberence Sunday so think it's appropriate.

Fantastic news, stick with her, sounds like she's making an impact on you and your crew.

Thankyou - I was racking my brains for a name, and had some great suggestions on here, just can't believe it was staring me in the face all along.

As for Poppy, me and the crew..... it's going to be a steady journey.
Just hope Milli & Timmy come round.

Millie won't even be in the same room as her, and Timmy hisses if she touches him although they've had nose greetings through the bars.
Hopefully Timmy will get over his upset - he's seriously not impressed.
As for Millie, she's horrible to everyone, although tollerates a sniff just about from the others, but not a single one of them dare look her in the eye :-)
 
some freshly roasted whole chicken or some tuna and you will be her best friend. but make her come to you. soon she will be super snuggly. where are the pictures?

Aww! you've made me all choked - I too had a ferral kitten who I named Poppy because she would have been born around rememberence time. She had a purr like a jet engine, sorted out all the dogs and would firmly put you in your place if stroking was no longer required. I loved her dearly and she was with me for almost 19years.

Poppy is a superior name and I have a "Poppy" but is a collie x spaniel who arrived on rememberance sunday with 8 puppies!

Glad you took her on and with a bit of patience and lots of tlc she will come round, however dont overdo the spoiling.....you know cats...she will expect it all the time!!:eek::D
