Which 4x4 pickup would you buy?
I'm looking into getting a new 4x4 pick up, does anyone recommend a good one to buy new?
I was thinking in the lines of a Ford Ranger?
Need an open back pick up as its easier to put hay, feed, bedding and smelly rugs in the back.
Any opinions of experiences with different makes would be appreciated..
Thanks

Toyota hilux are the most reliable. I'd not have a ranger tbh. My friend has one and it's had loads of stupid expensive problems with the alarm, immobiliser etc.

Look up Honest John (Telegraph) for reviews of all the models.

We have a new shape L200. Pros - Don't know you have trailer on the back. Plenty of room for clobber. Handy to have the open back, except when raining or you think that something might get stolen. Ok for comfort for driving.
Fantastic in 4wd in the snow.

Cons - long and a lot of metal to drive around; I find it quite tricky to reverse and always waiting for the crunch as I hit something. Although I am not short I think that it is designed for men as I can't quite see over the bonnet or backwards, as though my body should be 6" taller.
Pick up ride - I also managed to nearly lose the back-end when leaving a roundabout and wobbled all over the road, luckily no other car near or I would have side-swipped it, so a bit light at the back, like all pick ups.
The fuel consumption isn't great, but then it is quite big.

If I didn't have any other vehicle I would be very happy to use this all the time, but actually prefer my ancient Discovery, but there is a slight price difference when new!
