Not remotely horsey, but is it a sign that I am getting old?

Well to cut a long story short, I bought a Honda Civic from a Honda dealer back in April. I have nothing but problems with the car. It has been back into the garage five times. Engine mounts replaced, tensioner belt replaced, turbo replaced and then on Saturday on way to the horses - packs up again - new turbo which was fitted 3 weeks ago broken again. Car is under warranty, so not an issue money wise, however it's really, really inconvenient. Anyway, Honda dealer offers a solution today - change the car! However I put all my spare money into the one I have and it is a 54 plate, so the old shape, so I don't have anything spare to put towards a new one (the joy of owning horses - never have any money!). So I was offered a few petrol ones instead of a diesel and as I'm not doing as many miles as I was, I thought a petrol one will be fine.....however......(oh, I'm soo soo scared to say this).........I am getting a Honda Jazz in it's place......its the sport version, but it's still a Jazz......I'm not old enough to drive a Jazz. I always swore I would never, ever get one of these until I was at least my parents age....street cred out the window. So upset, but OH has made me put reliability before looks.....can I ever be trendy again????

Nah. It's ok. My friend (26) has one too. They're nice little cars :) I'm much more old lady-ish. I can't sit down or stand up without going oooh or ahh. And my bones ache. Could be worse!

Actually, I do have bad back and am always clutching it when I get up or down, so perhaps that's a sign that I am ready to have a jazz......

Do you find yourself lying on the floor at work yet? I am so old that my back forces me to lie flat out on the office floor! I'll probably live another 60 years. What will it be like when I'm actually old.

You should get some beige slacks to go with that Jazz!

Love that! No, not lying on the office floor yet, but they have ordered me a special posturepedic chair......I'm sure that if I could give up horses, my back would be fine, but that would just be soooo boring!

Weell, how about walking into a room/tak-room/stable and forgotten why you are there?Forgetting to feed the chickens, why you've caught the horse, which horse you are catching, getting stuck getting off, getting cramp in the hip, hangovers getting worse, and I'm not even old, no, not at all!

I'm afraid I thought a Honda Civic was bad enough :D

Still I do like a nice pair of comfy sandals now - it won't be long before I get some nice orthopaedic ones - already buy Clarkes :o

Hi I'm new here and just had to reply to this...I drive a Jazz (not even the sport type) I got it because it was practical (kids and that) I had no idea of the reputation but I soon found that out...!

I have never seen anyone younger than a pensioner driving one. I asked OH if he thinks we are the youngest Jazz owners...probably...and the coolest (his words!)

His philosophy is old(er) people only usually buy good cars as they are much more sensible...personally I'm looking forward to a mid life crisis

Jazz? That's full on trendy in my book. My car is a Passat estate, automatic (to save that left hip using the clutch, or that left wrist changing gears) and what's more it's biege

Thing is, I love it. It's comfy, big and ..... well that's it really ...... but it's a workhorse and carries all my stuff around. Oh, and it would fit a zimmerframe in easily!

Hmm, I knew I was getting old when I really started to avoid drinking too much. I no longer bounce back the next day and tbh - don't want to waste the 3 days or so it now takes me to get over what would have been deemed a mild hangover before. Never been a heavy drinker as had years of living in the sticks and needing to be sober to get home safe and sound, but now, 1 bottle of wine would floor me for the entire following day!

I had to smile reading this... I hit the "sod what it looks like does it do what I want" approach years ago!.

As for the Back - check * reaches for the mobility catalogue*; laying on the floor... not quite as it never looks appealing ( the floor not the laying on it!); cramp in hip - check; Hangover avoidance tactics - Check

I've just been through a lot this year and wanted a sports car as a treat.
Moving ned this weekend (even more windy country lanes!!)
OH is insisting I give up on the sports car dream and get a 4x4!!!
Pah!!!
So my budget will allow a Rav4 a small shogun or an old landy, need cheapest to run and best out of that bunch!
My street cred no longer exists!!
I feel old!

Clarkes?! Pah! what you want is a nice pair of birkenstocks! My excuse is that I have a stupid foot and their recommended by my podiatrist, but actually they're really comfy!

as for the street cred or otherwise of a jazz... at least you're not 28 and driving at 60 on a dual carriage way cos your fourtrak doesn't actually go much faster!

ETA - and what's more OH (aged 31) drives a diesel skoda fabia estate... the worlds ugliest car. why? because it's cool? er.. no. because it's fast? erm... not really. because it's pretty? definitely not. because it does 70+ miles to the gallon? Check!

We have 2 sports cars... a rebuilt and very souped up MGB and a Mitsubishi FTO. They were both my wife's. These days trying get her out of her old Disco is impossible. Old blue 200tdi with a lift kit, all the extra lumps of metal underneath ready for off roading and the front trim under the bumper removed (all done before we got it). impressive looking vehicle when it comes up behind you and it only cost 1100 quid. Mean looking Landys have major street cred and can still tow loads of stuff ;)

Get shut of the honda and grab a Landy :D :D :D
