Afternoon,
Horse is currently in the vet hospital after a pelvic impaction. All seems to be going well and he is set for discharge on tues. Spoke to them about management when he comes home and i was told exercise straight away, including fast work/jumping to get his digestive system going and even to compete at the weekend?? Not sure this sits well with me??
Any advice welcome!!

Movement does help them, as it gets their middle moving so the gut gurgling. It is far worse for them to be stood doing nothing in the stable and field.

But with gentle hacking, they aren't really going to be moving their middle as much, as it is pretty much straight lines...

I would have said a steady schooling session would have been beneficial, with lots of bending. The more the middle moves, the better.

i would have thought low stress exercise (both mental and physical) would be better. If it was my horse I wouldn't add the stress of travelling/competing on top.
