because J walked straight up the ramp and into the lorry on the first attempt today and he stood without trying to barge past my dad so he could get out :D

this is the horse that took four people to load him - one holding a carrot in front of his nose, one leading, one to shove him from behind and one to shut the partition

were you planning on going anywhere? Horses that are a problem to load will often behave in situations like this because nobody is under any pressure! Often the loading becomes an issue when everybody is in a hurry to get somewhere and the horse can sense this.

I have learned over the years to stay calm and always leave myself plenty of time, plus I usually do refresher loading sessions for a good week beforehand if my horse hasn't been out for a while but I'm lucky in that I have never had any real problems. More often than not my horses are rather keen to get in the trailer or lorry as it means party time!

we were practicing because J has to go back to the vet in the next week or so and he was a nightmare the last time.

he had a double dose of calmer and a buddy so that's probably made a difference
