Ren has got something going on with his neck and none of us no what the hell it is!

He is almost black very dark bay, but he as a real light bit of bay from his mane half way down to his neck.
Everytime I ride him that area sweat's and goes really wet

My older horse has a similar patch on his shoulder, its about 2 inches wide by about 3 inches long. I was always told that this was nerve damage and this would tally up as he slipped on concrete about 3/4 years ago and landed on his shoulder. His hair isn't a different colour though nor is he losing any hair on that area.

Hope this helps.. They're a mystery sometimes aren't they??

Molineux - has he always been like that or is it a new development? I'd be suspicious - I know some horses that are sedated break out in patchy sweat so it may fit with Benjis Girl experience. Could be some sort of nerve damage. Has vet seen it?

There was a post a few weeks ago about the same thing but cant find it now. The general consensus(sp) was that it was due to some kind of nerve damage i believe. My horse had it and he was bay too. I never had it checked as it didnt bother him and never thought anything of it other than it was strange!!

Sounds like nerve damage. My friends horse who had had chronic grass sickness and recovered did exactly this, but ib several places over his body. he was a bay and developed patches of lighter coloured hair which sweated profusely , sometimes when he was just grazing or stod still, the hair was also longer in these areas. he lived for many years after the EGS episode and died in his mid-20's last year.
