Does anybody have any ideas how to stop jogging, back, bit, saddle etc fine. It only when walking in the school she is fine hacking out and stops it the second she leaves the school any ideas will be great.
Preferably ask for a transistion before she starts jogging, gradually increasing the time she does a good walk first. If she breaks into jog before you get chance, either push her into trot for a few strides or halt before asking for walk again.
I'm with littlelegs on this - push on for a proper trot for a couple of strides, bring back to walk, repeat repeat repeat until she settles and realises that you actually would like a nice walk please and no you aren't going to be persuaded otherwise. They do get the idea, some quicker than others!
My old mare has came back from loan with a bad jogging habit and have had not been able to stop her. I have reduced it by never ever letting her carry on but it's a fine line between stopping her without truly winding her up.!!! I have actually increased her work to try to reduce the excitement about hacking out ...
Thanks i will try again (ps i do know it takes time, I was just worried about warming her up before trot), it isn't work she needs, she is ridden 5 or 6 times a week, 1 jumping 1 groundwork over poles, 2 general schooling and then 1 or 2 hacks Thanks for the help
