After six weeks of not being ridden, but we're having a brief lull in the weather at the weekend so he's going out!!

How long have you not ridden for now?

Snap! My boy, who is an ex-racehorse, has been off for a month now because he had an infected hock for 2 weeks, just got riding again for 3 days and the frost came. As I have only had him for 5 weeks and therefore only ridden him a handful of times Saturday morning could be interesting. Think I may need Hovis' mum's arse airbags!

You'll be suprised how behaved they can be. If they have been out then most likely they may be a little jolly but not too bad. If they have been stabled 24/7 then good luck :D

My horse had 2 months off due to my knee op. She was very excitable when I started working her again 3 weeks ago. I just lunged first to get out all the excitablity, and everyday I said, 'Im not getting on that!' But everyday I did.

However, little monkey threw a shoe last Saturday, so farrier coming today to put back on, so wonder what she will be like after another 5 days off!?

Mine have been stabled 24/7, path to fields is far too icy, so if we have a lull they will be out and me thinks that will be fun, two TB's who to be honest are nice and chilled at the moment and my old grumpy retired boy who think will be the monster to turn out and then one on box rest............But I'm so looking forward to riding, not ridden for two weeks.........wish we still had the indoor school......

24 hours :P have only been able to ride once or twice a week tho, from 5 or 6 its frustrating. today is a pea soup of a fog again which is stopping safe hacking yet again. :( luckily I have a lovely chilled boy that is still turned out 9 hrs a day so he doesnt mind so much as me.
Good luck though!!!

My mare hasn't been ridden for 8years, got her about 2months ago and been long leining and lungeing and I'm getting on her on sat for the first time.....now thats a good big break.

Mine is a month off due to a mouth injury he got eating a branch (?!) plus the bad weather. I have a feeling getting back into riding will be harder for me than him tho, i feel so unfit!

I am seriously considering giving it up! Just started managing to get mine out on his own and now not been able to ride for 3 weeks, back to the drawing board I think.
