Not sure what to call this! Qualification help.

OK,so I would really like to take a horse exam next year.
Chouces are
1) horse owners certs,but the nearest yard running them is a bit of a trek.
2)distance learning coure for stage 1 while doing 2 days a week at local (very helpfull)RS.
Which would you go for?

Stage 1 it is.Not sure why that sounds so much more scarey then the HOC's

Obviously there is TOCES,but could anyone recomend any other colleges worth looking into?
