Not taking contact

We are working at Elementary and at home my boy schools beautifully. He is in a double but at competition he backs off in trot work which affects marks. Any advice please.

Do you ride differently at a competition are you not riding forward enough or hold to much with the hand if your a bit nervous? I’d say you need to get the horse more forward in the warm up. Forget the front end and just get the horse going forward off the leg. Lots of transitions in your warm up without messing with the front end. The horse may not have the same confidence in a show environment either snd needs you to really coax them on.
I’d be tempted to take the horse out the double for a few competitions and see if that helps with the willingness to go forward.
