Took Hattie over to the vets tonight for AIing. We were shown were to put her and she was given a bucket of water. We had to wait for the vet to get back as he was on a call.
Someone went off to get her some haylage and I told them she would climb the walls and have the runs on haylage but I was told they don't have any hay! I wasn't told this when asked to bring her over on such short notice, as in yesterday. I don't have much hay as they live out so I can't take any over for her. Thank god I'm not the one mucking her out in the morning.
She wasn't offered any food at all, so she didn't get any dinner, she only gets a handful of hifi anyway but that is not the point. I did not see another person but the vet for the rest of the time (about an hour) that we were there.
The vet came and she was scanned but is not in season. He is going to rescan her everyday to see if she will come in to season soon. If not she will be brought in.
I told the vet that Hattie drinks alot of water over night at least 3 buckets so he said he would find her another bucket and keep her topped up.
No one asked what, feed wise Hattie has, so I'm hoping someone will ring me in the morning. Yes I could of told the vet but he is not the one going to be looking after her.
I am going to ring the vets in the morning as no one has said when I can come over to see her and I was told before any of this that I can ride her, but she had her back done today so needs 2 days off, so I will just walk her in hand in the evenings and ask she is walked in the mornings. I will be very angry if they think they are going to keep her in 24 hours aday.

Glad you chose Lostock Huntsman in the end, I reckon I should get commission out of Charles the number of people I've sent him!
We have seen the stallion out hunting quite a lot and he does have an undeniable presence which is what you need.
hope all goes well from now on..

I'm glad you chose him too IC. He's Patches intended, even though I don't intend to breed from her as I don't suppose she has the conformation for breeding.

Shame....I'm quite taken by him.

Cheers guys. I have only heard good things about him and was very impressed when we saw him. The foal will be for me to have fun with so I was looking for impeccable manners and a good allrounder.

Ooo, Amy's in foal to Lostock Huntsman.

Why don't you just take the mare to Charles and leave her there? They will do all the scanning work and covering (obviously). Be cheaper than going back and fore to the vet and paying their livery costs which I imagine are expensive. Amy spent around two months there last year and I was very happy with how they looked after her.

As for the other stuff - I suspect all you had to do was to tell them what she was having, and ask about the other stuff that you weren't sure about.........
