That seems so soon. But with this rotten summer maybe it does feel more like autumn already. I hadn't gotten around to do any summer events yet - where's the year going?!

Yay it's getting closer, my horse is coming back in from holidays next week then walk work starts!!! Beginning of August seems very close, v much doubt we could start that early round here, as most of our farmers are still waiting for a good dry period to cut their hay before harvest can start. Can't wait though, in 6 months time we will be showing how well supported hunting is at the boxing day meets, hopefully there will be no snow or frost!!

Its unlikely we'll have an early harvest either down in Dorset so will prob. start cubbing end of August. Horse on Week 2 of walking. Only another 6 weeks to go before we can trot. Jogging does count as walking doesn't it?!!!!

I like to walk mine 4-6 weeks gradually building up the time they do, normally up to about 1.5 hours - 2 hours, then begin some trot work for about a month before introducing canter, it also depends how much Autum hunting I do as if the horse goes out AHing a fair amount I won't do much cantering at home but the plan is that she is waiting for full season more this year so I will do more fast work at home and also get her out show jumping, it does help that I have stubble fields, and gallops very close to ride over!! We also go up to Norfolk for a week in the middle of August, paddling in the sea really helps their legs as well :)

Counting the days!!!

I keep mine in light work over the spring and summer, so will start to get them fit again by going mounted hound excercise, which usually starts at the end of july here...

Time to get the hunt coat cleaned methinks!
